It’s been nearly four years since the tiny Mitsubishi i-MiEV hit the market. And considering the rapid evolution and transformation of the electric-car market that’s occurred over the past several times the earth has gone around the sun, that’s really light years. It’s no longer so much the technological curiousity, or a forerunner of a new technology—or, to early adopters, a long-awaited, fully legal electric passenger car. Since it arrived on the market, so has the Tesla Model S, and a slew of other compliance-car models, like the Fiat 500e, that add some allure to going electric. The 2016 Mitsubishi i-MiEV , no matter how you try to spin it in your head, isn’t sexy. It’s only 145 inches long and derived from Japanese kei cars, and it does wonders with space. Or rou can fit four adults in the i-MiEV surprisingly well—although it’s nearly a foot narrower (62. 4 inches) than a lot of U. S. -market models so you’re practically brushing shoulders with them. The i-MiEV offers an official range of just 62 miles—the lowest of any of the battery electric cars sold in the U. S. —but it remains one of only a few electric cars to use the CHAdeMO standard for fast-charging (an 80-percent charge in under half... Source: www.greencarreports.com

Third Date: 2015 Mitsubishi iMiEV - Gas 2.0

It was at that point, as I walked out to the garage to drive the little Mitsubishi iMiEV to breakfast, that I noticed the car hadn’t — as I’d supposed — been charging all night. By the time the problem was discovered, it was 8:15AM, and the car was showing 26 miles of range … and I needed to take it for a 26 mile trip. I took a deep breath and decided to go for it on the basis that, “Mitsubishi’s range thing is probably pessimistic. After I turned off the car and got out, I saw that I had about 3 feet of space left to pull up to the building. I really, really want to like the Mitsubishi iMiEV. I’m a big fan of Mitsubishi’s recent/ upcoming products , its open-er, honest-er MPG ratings , and its tradition of building small, reliable economy cars that don’t make you hate yourself for driving them. That said, I would really like to get a text or an email or something from the car when it. My experience is that if you are going to own an electric car you need a level 2 charging station at your house, ClipperCreek has one for $379 perfect for... Source: gas2.org

Little i-MiEV Electric Car: How Does It Compare To VW e-Golf? - Yahoo Sports

In the i-MiEV, short-and-upright seats give you a high vantage point but lead you to feel like you’re sitting on the bulk of the car. You’d better feel comfortable with your passenger, too, as you’ll be nearly bumping shoulders (as the i-MiEV is considerably narrower than most other U. S. -market small cars). The e-Golf, on the other hand, has great, supportive seats, with longer proportioning that gives far better support for one’s thighs and back. You sit lower in the car, for sure, and while that means visibility isn’t quite as great, you instantly get a better feel of the e-Golf’s handling and cornering capability. In back, both of these models are closer—and the Mitsubishi might even have the advantage, surprisingly. In the i-MiEV, we’ve found the back seat to be better-proportioned than the front seats, in some respects, and barring the same narrow feel, there’s lots of headroom and reasonably good legroom. In the Golf, there’s good space in back, but the door cuts and low-set front seats make getting in and out, and wedging feet underneath, quite a bit more difficult. The Volkswagen e-Golf, like most modern electric cars—whether they be ‘compliance cars’ or higher-production-volume affairs, gives you lots of readouts. Source: www.yahoo.com
