Port Arthur Police responded to the following calls from May 2 through May 6. Saturday, May 2. • Criminal mischief to a vehicle was reported in the 2900 block of 13th Street. • Felony criminal mischief/assault-family violence was reported in the 2900 block of 13th Street. • A person was arrested for the theft of $295. 99 worth of merchandise at Dillards, 3100 FM 365. • Criminal mischief to a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of Dixie Drive. • State jail felony assault was reported in the 1600 block of 14th Street. • Assault-family violence was reported a Ninth Avenue Station apartments, 7225 Ninth Ave. • Burglary of a building was reported at Clean Caring Daycare, 3048 Procter St. • Criminal mischief to a vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Eighth Avenue. • A person was arrested for the theft of $169. 61 worth of miscellaneous merchandise at Walmart, 8585 Memorial Blvd. The suspects had two children with them and Child Protective Services were called to take the children because the suspects reportedly refused to cooperate and call someone to take the children. Woman in ICU after head-on crash - Great Falls Tribune

A Ford F-350 crossed the center line and hit a Chevy Malibu head on in the 3200 block of River Drive. The Ford rolled after impact and the female driver, Brenda Jones, was also extricated. Mahlum said two counts of negligent vehicular assault are pending the outcome of the Malibu driver’s injuries. One of the counts could be upgraded to vehicular homicide if the Malibu driver does not recover from her injuries, Mahlum said. The Malibu driver was taken to Benefis Health System with multiple fractures remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit on Sunday, Malibu said. Mahlum said the women in the Malibu were in their 60s. Montana Highway Patrol assisted at the scene and is expected back on scene this afternoon to continue the investigation. GFPD said River Drive between 25th Street and Giant Springs Road would be closed some time this afternoon for the crash investigation. After a completely unscientific study, this much can be reported about the accuracy of these roadside travel estimates: They are scary accurate. Let's start with a sign parked on Washington at Bellevue Drive, about a half-mile east of Hainesville Road. " I interpreted this cryptic message to mean that it would take me five minutes to drive the 2. 25 miles from there to Route 83 in Grayslake, where Washington Street traffic goes to stop and contemplate its purpose. It should be noted that you can cover 2. 25 miles in less than two minutes at highway speed, but in this case, the speed limits ranged from 30 to 40 mph.
