Car lover Mike Shaw is living the American dream - Stuff.co.nz

"The previous owner took the vinyl roof off and resprayed it. The new roof gives it a much more sleek look. Shaw, a young builder from Oamaru, has always been a fan of the big American car, which is what drew him to the Cadillac. Under the bonnet, the car continues to pack some punch. Cadillac certainly had comfort in mind when designing this car. The 1970s must have been a lucrative year for tobacco companies: there are four cigarette lighters and ashtrays throughout the car. The Cadillac is a left-hand drive, which doesn't seem to concern Shaw. Though built in 1974, the Coupe de Ville is modern, even by today's standards. "It's a car that was built before its time. It comes with electric windows, seats and side-mirrors. When it comes to safety, the Cadillac is again on point. "The car won't start until the passengers have their seat-belts on. ". It's a thirsty machine though. "She's definitely not cheap on gas, but she's worth it. ". The Coupe de Ville often comes out on a sunny day for a drive with friends. "She's really a cruising car," Shaw said. Shaw attends the Cromwell Classic Car Show each year and has driven the stylish Cadillac to it for. Source: www.stuff.co.nz
