Then last weekend they had the biggest incident yet, eight vehicles had their tires slashed, which police confirmed. “That’s why I moved to the area, because it’s safe,” 26-year-old Chantel North said, who moved there in January. His Chevy Silverado truck had its tires punctured in all three incidents, and during last weekend’s incident, three of four tires were damaged. “The fact that there’s now two large incidents, we have a detective assigned,” Brea police Lt. Darrin Devereux said. Beck and other residents said they are considering putting cameras up, which can cost up to $500. Orland teen charged in weekend's wild chase on interstates - Press Herald

Austin Ashmore, 18, from Orland, was chased by police from two law enforcement agencies for 19 miles as they used a spike mat, a car-bumping technique and finally rammed the truck into the center median before arresting him on seven criminal... Ashmore, who at the end of the chase was driving north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 295 south of Augusta, was finally taken into custody when Trooper Jesse Duda rammed the truck into a ditch in the median with his cruiser. Ashmore is charged with eluding a police officer, passing a police roadblock and spike mat, aggravated criminal speed and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon – the stolen truck – all Class C felonies punishable by up to five years in prison. A three-vehicle crash on the Long Key Bridge involving a fully loaded dump truck closed a portion of U. S. 1 for more than two hours Tuesday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kathleen McKinney. According to reports, the driver of a silver Chevy Silverado was passing numerous vehicles while speeding northbound on the highway’s southbound lane. At Mile Marker 64, the truck swerved back into the northbound lane to avoid running into the dump truck, according to reports. As the driver of the dump truck, Gilbert Fernandez, of Key Largo, tried to brake and turn to the right to avoid the pickup, the vehicle’s rear axle brake drum came apart and two tires detached.
