At Good Life Ice Cream & Treats on Fruitville Pike, one of Lancaster County’s favorite seasonal flavors is immortalized again this summer in the family owned shop’s Lancaster Sweet Corn ice cream. “We started the sweet corn ice cream last year, last July,” said Mike Good, who owns the shop with his wife, Donna. The season for sweet corn ice cream is, like so many other tasty things in life, a limited one. The Goods get their white sweet corn from their favorite roadside stand: Clark Stauffer of Indian Run Produce on Stevens Road in Ephrata. “We use our base, a proprietary ice cream mix we use,” Good said. “We blanch the sweet corn, and then we cut if off the cob, and it goes into our ice cream machine to mix in. You do taste pieces of corn when you bite into it. ”. They got the idea, Good said, when they saw an Instagram picture from an ice cream... If you buy sweet corn ice cream at Good Life, you have the option of dusting it with Old Bay seasoning. While the Goods have run the ice cream shop on Fruitville Pike for 10 years, it’s only the second year it’s been operating as Good Life. Many people take vacations with their extended family — including grandparents — who may have special considerations when it comes to traveling. they’re taking trips on their own as well, says Craig Haberle, a certified travel counselor with AAA Central Penn. Whether seniors are traveling with family members or by themselves, here are some tips for making the process as smooth as possible, ensuring a vacation that makes memories for years to come. CONSIDER CAPABILITIES AND INTERESTS “When you talk about ‘seniors’, you could mean anyone from age 55 to 105 or beyond,” Haberle says, “There can be a real range of capabilities in this group. Be sure to assess the ability and interests of the seniors who are traveling, Haberle suggests. “For example, you wouldn’t want to take your great-grandparent who’s using a wheelchair and expect them to go river rafting,” he says. And, he says, many families are taking multigenerational trips, which provide seniors with the opportunity to spend time with grandchildren, but means extra care should be taken to ensure everyone’s interests are met on the trip. “The kids might want to spend the afternoon swimming in the pool, but the grandparents may not want to do that. I was perplexed though when I stopped and put the jag in park and took off my seat belt the car shut off, but not always. I emailed Jaguar and Maria told me:. "The situation you are experiencing has to do with the "Eco" system. You may have noticed when "Eco" mode is on, that the engine stops running when the vehicle comes to a complete stop. If you remove your seat belt while the engine is being held off by this system, the vehicle will shut off completely. The reason you are not always experiencing this is because the "Eco" system only runs under certain conditions (i. e. the ambient temperature has to be above a certain threshold or the system has sensed that you are stopping frequently). It's one of those features that was designed to keep people from removing their seat belts while driving. If you don't want this to happen, you can simply turn Eco mode off completely by pressing the Eco button on the console. Source: live.washingtonpost.com
