D3's focus has been on amping-up Cadillac's already formidable V-series offerings, with its take on Cadillac's XLR-V roadster recently getting a chance to prove its mettle through our battery of performance testing. On paper, the D3 XLR-V is one killer Caddy. We sampled D3's Stage 2 Package, which consists of an upgraded supercharger, monster dual intake, Corsa full exhaust system, upgraded intercooler, performance spark plugs, auxiliary methanol injection cooling system, and retuned suspension... Rubber also is upgraded, with Toyo Proxes T1Rs sized 245/35ZR20 up front and 285/30ZR20 in the rear replacing the stock 19-in. Pirelli runflats. All those add-ons are generating eye-popping output numbers -- 575 hp at 5900 rpm and 585 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm -- while providing stellar aural stimulation. Sixty mph comes and goes in just 4. 2 sec, the quarter in 12. 7 sec at 112 mph -- a virtual dead heat with the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG. Unlike the sound effects, however, the performance boost over a stock XLR-V isn't as stimulating. Despite trumping the stock car by 132 hp and 171 lb-ft, the D3 XLR-V is just 0. 4 sec quicker to 60 mph, 0. 9 sec quicker to 100 mph, and 0. 4 sec faster through the quarter. Cadillac ATS-V+ Is Not In The Pipeline, Says Cadillac - GM Authority (blog)

The ATS-V we have today is supremely capable—so much so that it’s unlikely to receive a larger, or different engine in the foreseeable future. One is smaller, a little more approachable (relatively speaking) with the most powerful V6, the Cadillac Twin Turbo. And its big brother coming later this summer with a supercharged V8 with authoritative power. The only thing that doesn’t lineup with what Caldwell has to say is it absolutely rings opposite of what Cadillac chief engineer, David Leone, had to say in regards to an ATS-V+. “We might have something down the road that is a little bit more aggressive,” said Leone when speaking to Car and Driver on the idea of a Cadillac ATS-V branded Black Series rival. Cadillac has also gone on the record stating the V-series portfolio will grow over time. Is this idea dead-on-arrival, or Cadillac’s worst kept secret. Also it seems GM Is going to unnatural aspirated engines for their super performance cars.
