BMW X1 Plug-In Hybrid Planned for 2016 - The News Wheel

The BMW X1 was first introduced in the United States for the 2013 model year after debuting first in Europe and Canada. According to BMW, the X1 is seeing a lot of sales growth in year-over-year sales comparison numbers. The luxury crossover is a challenge to other automakers in the crowded field, and it seems as if BMW is going to take a big step next year to help it stand out from the crowd. According to the British site Auto Express, the next BMW x1 will be available as a plug-in hybrid, at least in Europe. Auto Express backed its story up with several spy photographs, where BMW has helpfully labeled the camouflaged X1 as “Hybrid Test Vehicle. ” Supposedly a 2. 0-liter gas engine will assist the electric motor, and it will still have the power you expect from the BMW X1. 2016 Jaguar F-Pace shape revealed - Autocar

Jaguar has released the first image and video of its new F-Pace SUV ahead of its reveal on the eve of next week’s Frankfurt motor show. The side profile of the new car reveals that the overall look and proportions have, as promised by insiders, stayed true to the well-received C-X17 concept of 2013, the first time Jaguar went public with its intentions to launch an SUV. Jaguar has confirmed limited information alongside the image ahead of the car’s full reveal on 14 September, saying only that it will follow the XE and XF in being based on the same modular aluminium platform and be manufactured alongside the... This latest announcement comes just a short time after the company confirmed the F-Pace's underpinnings would feature technology from the F-Type sports car. This technology aims to improve the SUV’s ride and handling abilities and includes elements such as a torque vectoring system. Indeed, BMW has benefitted from the ever growing popularity of sport-utes in general and compact premium ones in particular, even though the Germans started selling the X1 in 2013 in its main market, North America. “The sales of the X1 were more than expected," said René de Heij, product marketing manager BMW Netherlands, whom I met shortly before my first X1 drive. For the second generation, BMW is using the new front-wheel-drive architecture that debuted in the new Mini last year and was a first for the BMW brand in the 2 Series Active Tourer. Fans may not like it, but moving away from rear-wheel-drive - and in the case of the new X1 - also from the beloved 6 in-line engine, has everything to do with upsizing interior space and downsizing engines for improved fuel efficiency. So far, the 2 Series Active Tourer and Grand Tourer (that are only available in Europe) have not disappointed and are selling really well, and we may expect that the new configuration will turn out well for the 20i and 18d sDrive models. Front-wheel-drive is always standard for the models with the smaller engines (20i and 18d), xDrive is an option for the 20i, others and is always standard on the 25i, 20d and 28d models.
