Le Korando , une sorte de Jeep mutante (assez réussie, d’ailleurs), le Rodius et sa poupe semblable à un sac à dos ou encore l’improbable Actyon , pionnier du coupé-SUV, apparu bien avant le lourdingue BMW X6. De l’audace, toujours de l’audace. Ces voitures assez spéciales et dont Audiard aurait pu dire qu’elles sont d’un genre « plutôt rustique » ont constitué un parc roulant de 16 000 véhicules en France et façonné une identité de marque bien à part mais avec laquelle le Tivoli entend... Plus court (4,20 mètres) que ses prédécesseurs mais plus long que le Renault Captur ou le Peugeot 2008 qui appartiennent à la même catégorie, ce petit SUV très propret ne cherche pas, ou si peu, à se singulariser. Conçu, comme son nom le suggère, pour plaire sur le marché européen, le Tivoli affiche une inspiration asiatique perceptible dans la sage découpe des volumes et sa silhouette très orthodoxe même si elle évoque de loin le Kia Soul. Le Tivoli cherche à se situer dans le sillage d’une Toyota ou d’une Hyundai, avec le minimum syndical de feux à Led et d’épaulements surlignés sur les flancs mais en ayant le tact d’éviter les emprunts stylistiques flagrants et les effets trop... Un classicisme assumé Voilà un SUV qui n’exhibe pas, contrairement à la plupart de ses concurrents, une calandre surdimensionnée où trône un logo boursouflé. Source: www.lemonde.fr

First Test: 2008 BMW 128i - MotorTrend Magazine

We were impressed by the 128i when we first drove it and now that we've tested the cheapest BMW available, we can show you how it stacks up against the competition and its twin-turbocharged brother. Price wise, there's really no direct comparison to the 128i. Mazda's RX-8 is the closest, providing the basic engine-in-front-thrust-to-rear drivetrain layout of the 128i. The Mazda also has about the same legroom in the rear (none) and it's about... where the 1. 3-liter rotary spins itself up 159 lb-ft of torque, the 128i serves 200 lb-ft. The 128i provides more grip too, circling our test track at an average 0. 89 g, while the RX-8 only produces 0. 84 g. Not that anyone's likely to cross shop the two, but a Mustang GT Premium costs $300 less than the BMW and runs to 60 mph... An Infiniti G37 Sport can do both, and it's two-tenths faster to 60 mph (5. 4 seconds), but costs $36,200.
