Years ago, Mike Prichinello was living in Manhattan and paying $1,200 a month in garage rent for his daily-driver BMW sedan and 1977 Aston Martin, a car that he said barely ran anyway. Today, for a bit less of an outlay, members of the Classic Car Club of Manhattan that Prichinello founded with Zac Moseley in 2005 can drive a selection of vintage American and European cars, as well as the latest supercars, 30 to 40 times a year. Some members drive the club’s cars hundreds of miles on a weekend, Prichinello said. , along historic Route 66. Founded by Scott Shinn four years ago, the company offers a small fleet of Chevy and Ford muscle cars and convertibles. Extensive powertrain, chassis and brake upgrades make the cars more suitable for covering the Route 66 tour than vehicles restored to original specs, something that’s demonstrated as often as 10 times a year. She said the school is essentially refusing to honor a request she has every legal right to make. For $77,000 you can buy some pretty nice stuff like a used convertible Bentley Continental GT, or a used helicopter and flying lessons. Smith said she filed a Freedom of Information Act request pertaining to her special needs son. She said all she wanted was a year’s worth of email correspondence instead of a nominal fee. Smith said she got the outrageous charge of more than $77,000. “I do consider this flat out a denial,” Smith said. “In fact, I believe that by them throwing up a brick wall it makes me question more, so why can’t I have those emails,” Smith said. According to the letter, the Goodrich schools superintendent said it would take the district two years and more than 4,500 hours at a rate of $77,780 to get those emails. “I think Goodrich schools should be ashamed of themselves for even asking for this amount of money,” said Phil Ellison, Smith’s attorney.
