As an Acura, RDX has a solid reputation for reliability, sensibility, honest pricing, decent fuel mileage, and all sorts of warm and fuzzy stuff that prudent shoppers like. RDX promises a wholesome, down-to-earth, no B. S. ownership experience, which has helped move many copies while turning many first-time Acura shoppers into repeat Acura buyers. Model year 2016 sees the RDX dotted with updates and enhancements. The Acura RDX has been one of the most popular small, upscale SUVs for good reason: it has a roomy cabin, plenty of power, is competitively priced, and its upscale without being pretentious. But the RDX was missing some safety and luxury features expected from an prestige nameplate. We’re pleased to see that the Acura Watch safety package—including autobraking to mitigate forward crashes and lane-departure warning with lane keep assist—is now available on every trim line. More upscale features are available now, too, like blind-spot monitoring, an eight-way power passenger seat, and ventilated front seats. EPA estimates for the AWD model are 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, promising a 1 mpg gain on the highway. In the real world, we expect that the 22 mpg overall figures that we got in our last RDX test won’t likely change. Fans of the German competition from Audi and BMW just might find the RDX boring to drive, others may have no objection. The 2016 Acura RDX received a full-face makeover for the new model year, and frankly, it needed it. Though the last one didn’t get the brand's unfortunate full-beak nose treatment, it suffered from plain-Jane looks even in a segment not known for... Acura updated the appearance and added its cool Jewel Eye headlights along with LED taillights with light piping, all of which does a good bit to spruce up the front and rear fascias. The back is the same -- more character lines, everything looks a little sharper and the rear reflectors are a little deeper, with cooler-looking surrounds. Overall, the visual still won’t blow you away, but Acura found a good balance between too much beak and not enough flair. Drivers of the RDX are greeted with a plain but clean-looking dash and instrument panel with some metal accents. The wheel is littered with buttons, some of which get pressed when gripping the wheel in a turn, but overall having everything within reach is a net positive. The seats are comfortable and easy to adjust, though a little flat on the back and bottom -- the RDX isn’t a corner carver, so comfort is on the menu. The RDX is downright quick thanks to its.
