According to reports, Honda confirmed that the delay was due to last-minute changes in the car's engine design, changing the model's 3. 5-liter V-6 engine block from a transversal to a longitudinal position. In addition, the assembly would need to start again from the drawing board, since accommodating the new engine placement means that the hood design will have to be changed, as well as the chassis, to be able to secure the new engine and make an... There is no definite release date yet for the 2016 Acura NSX, but the setback seems to not deter enthusiasts at all. If Honda releases the new NSX with just the design changes with no alteration to the engine type itself, then the new model is expected to deliver at least 550 horsepower from its three electric motors and the 3. 5-liter twin-turbo engine, making... I believe we’ve just caught a view of 2016 NSX on the 405 freeway, could be the Garden Grove interchange, I don’t know. In this instance the NSX is most likely driving in electric-only, regenerative-braking mode. Acura is undertaking a cross-country real-world shake down of NSX systems in a righteous quest of post production quality and reliability. With this change came two turbos, but it forced Honda to fully redesign the engine to make it fit. Instead of sitting transversally, as Honda initially intended it, Honda had to flip the 3. 5-liter V-6 into a longitudinal position. We’ll just have to deal with a little more teasing by Acura.
