Is Honda's Project 2 & 4 a New Side-by-Side? - Automobile

When I saw the plan view of what appears to be half an open-wheel formula car elsewhere on this website, under the headline “Honda Brings Motorcycle-Powered 2 & 4 to Frankfurt,” I immediately thought of the company’s old Side-by-Side. No, I’m not referring to the off-road four-wheelers that Honda’s motorcycle division sells under the same model name, but rather a small open-wheel formula car that Japan’s third-largest automaker built for its 50th birthday. (It was incorporated in 1948 and marketed its first motorcycle in 1949. ) You might remember another product of that celebration: the Honda S2000. Honda unveiled the single-seater in September 1997, a few years after its huge success as engine... It’s far too premature to celebrate the automaker’s return this year to F1 as McLaren’s engine supplier (though this race car is probably less costly than the Lexus LFA that Toyota built to “celebrate” its F1 victories). The Side-by-Side had perfect mid-engine balance, with a 742-cc narrow-angle, SOHC, V-twin engine placed to the right of the driver’s cockpit. Weighing just 860 pounds, the Honda Side-by-Side wasn’t fast, but it was fun -- as much as or more fun than I’ve had in any six-figure supercar. Source: www.automobilemag.com

History/Description: The NSX wasn’t a car anyone bought to have the fastest supercar on their block. Launched 1990 and battling the likes the Porsche 911, Ferrari 355, Dodge Viper, Lotus Esprit and Chevrolet Corvette in its lifetime, all models got a VTEC V6 engine smack in the middle, making between 250 and 300 horsepower, depending on the model... Some Ferraris from this era are still priced like real estate – but you can get an NSX on the affordable side of the spectrum nowadays, to the delight of the local Honda Civic tuner crowd, who will be super-envious of your VTEC. Best of all, unlike the comparable finicky supercars from its era, the NSX isn’t incredibly fussy about tune-ups, parts and maintenance. Engines / Trim: NSX models came one way: as a two-seater with a mid-mounted VTEC V6 driving the rear wheels. The NSX was a hard-topped coupe, while the NSX-T had a removable targa top. Early models got a 3. 0L V6 making 252 hp with the automatic transmission and 270 with the five-speed manual. Special versions of the NSX got further upgrades to power output. What Owners Like: Beautiful handling, steering, balance, styling and an all around authentic performance car driving experience are highly rated by NSX owners, many of who say there’s nothing closer to a perfect sports car on the road, then or now. Rolling Stone names Jason Fine as new editor, replacing Will Dana - USA TODAY

Wenner Media, its parent company, named Jason Fine as managing editor of Rolling Stone Monday, hoping to restore leadership at the magazine that has been beleaguered by a discredited story about the University of Virginia. Prior to becoming the editor of Men’s Journal in 2010, he was an executive editor of Rolling Stone for about two years. He joined Rolling Stone as an associate editor in 1997. Fine replaces Will Dana, who stepped down last month following the magazine's retraction of a December 2014 article Dana edited. "A rape on campus," reported and written by Sabrina Rubin Erdely, chronicled a story about "Jackie," who said she experienced a brutal gang rape at the hands of University of Virginia fraternity members. Rolling Stone commissioned the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism to conduct an investigation of the story, and the school subsequently issued a scathing report about the reportorial shortcomings in the story.
