Albemarle County Police say detectives are now desperate to find a man from Scottsville who disappeared on Sunday, May 31. Robert Wayne Pippin, 55, is stilling missing but investigators say someone reported seeing Pippin's 1997 white Ford Ranger... Pippin's doctors tell police right now he is probably disoriented and confused because he has not had medication for on-going health issues. "Well this is really a critical stage and according to his doctors you know the longer he goes without this medication, the more concerning it becomes, so you now we're really asking for the public's help with this,” says Carter Johnson of the... The police are asking everyone driving in Albemarle County and surrounding counties to check parking lots for Pippin's white Ford Ranger. Police say he is most likely sleeping in his truck or doesn't know where he is. His family says if you approach him he will most likely say he is okay, but be assured he does need assistance. Ford Bronco The Bronco is one of the most celebrated SUVs of all time, and is largely credited for popularizing utility vehicles among the American public. Built on a completely original platform, fitted with a straight-6 or Windsor V-8 and all the utility and character you could ever need, the Bronco gave Jeep a run for its money all the way up to 1996 when it was killed off by Ford. The theory, which I’ve elaborated on at great length to many fascinated listeners, is meant to explain the presence of what I call “automotive oddities” on Hamptons streets. An automotive oddity is a very particular type of car, perhaps best defined by what it is not. An automotive oddity is not a classic car, like a Ford Mustang or a Karmann Ghia. Certainly, automotive oddities are not to be confused with the super-expensive cars that routinely show up during the summer months around here—the run-of-the-mill Maseratis and Aston-Martins that seem to sprout like weeds from the cracks in... The automotive oddity is the 1963 Dodge Dart that looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. It’s a vintage car of undistinguished design, your standard-issue, working-class vehicle that nobody thinks of as a classic, remarkable only for the fact that it is so well preserved and still in working order. The car might look interesting now, inasmuch as it displays an old-fashioned aesthetic, yet you know that when it was new it was nobody’s dream car. That’s the automotive oddity.
