RiverDogs storm back to beat Greenville, 12-9 - Charleston Post Courier
Ryan Palma hit a grand slam in a six-run eighth inning and Ryan Lindemuth hit the go-ahead home run in the ninth as the Charleston RiverDogs rallied from a five-run deficit to beat Greenville, 12-9, Sunday at Fluor Field. Charleston (1-2 second half, 35-38 overall) scored 10 runs over the final two innings to complete the comeback and win its first game of the season’s second half. The RiverDogs trailed 7-2 heading into the top of the eighth before their rally got fired up. Lindemuth led off the frame with a base hit, Angel Aguilar was hit by a pitch and Isaias Tejeda walked to load the bases. Chris Breen lifted a fly ball into center field that was dropped by Bryan Hudson, scoring Lindemuth. Alexander Palma followed with a grand slam to left-center field and tied the game at 7. The RiverDogs took their first lead of the series later in the eighth. All nine batters came to the plate for Charleston in the six-run inning. Yoan Moncada hit a two-out double to left to score Joseph Monge scored. Lindemuth began the top of the ninth by blasting a solo home run over the left field wall, his first big fly of the season and second of his career. Breen scored when Derek Toadvine grounded into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded to extend the RiverDogs’ lead to 11-8. Rainiero Coa added another insurance run with an RBI infield single.
