They say Perez and at least two other people fled the scene, but Perez returned a short time later. The 5-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital with head injury and the 2-year-old girl was transported by ambulance for undisclosed injuries. Sheriff’s officials say Perez showed signs of drug impairment and allegedly admitted to officers that he was smoking marijuana prior to the collision.
