DETROIT, MI - A report in Japan's largest media outlet says that Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is closing its lone U. S. plant, located in Normal, Ill. Reuters reports that Mitsubishi has remained mum on the report in Nikkei, which said the Japanese automaker plans to close the plant because of low U. S. demand for this vehicles, an expiring union contract at the facility, and an overall decision... The Illinois plant began as a 50/50 partnership with Chrysler in 1985.
