Giorgetto Giugiaro steps down; Audi takes over studio - LeftLane News
According to Automotive news, he sold a 90. 1 percent stake in Italdesign Giugiaro SpA to Volkswagen Group's Audi roughly five years ago. Giugiaro is credited with designing dozens of automotive staples along with many recognizable concept cars. Among his most famous designs are the first-generation Volkswagen Golf , the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Bertone, the Saab 9000 and the 1993 Lexus GS. Customers have purchased more than 60 million cars designed by Giugario's studio. In 1968, he took the effort to its natural outcome, formally opening the studio that would eventually become Italdesign Giugiaro. Under the new Volkswagen Group structure , Italdesign Giugiaro will be the third Italian component in group comprised of Audi, Lamborghini and motorcycle manufacturer Ducati.
