Perryville High School will be shining clean and ready for the students to arrive tomorrow. You have Steve Myers' word on it. Myers, 65, is used to the first day of school. He also graduated from Cecil County Public Schools so this is his 60th first day. Myers started in the school system when he was a student at Elkton High. He started working for the school system as a custodian at Cherry Hill Middle in 1968. In September of 1969, he was assigned to work at Kenmore Elementary (the current Providence School building). Five years later, in 1974, Myers got a job assignment which changed his life. He moved to the head custodian post at Perryville Elementary School. She also still works for the school system and will be at Thomson Estates this school year. Myers said he likes going to work every day. "I've got property taxes, a new truck, and a new Jeep to pay for. I have sick leave (accumulated) for another year," Myers said. He has also set a goal of working for the system for 50 years. Myers and Dr. Delbert Jackson are the current longest-serving system staffers. Source: www.heraldandchronicle.com
