The system features four door speakers, a dash-mounted center speaker, and a compact subwoofer mounted behind the rear seats. I could clearly make out music notes at low volumes that were easy to hold a conversation over, but the system sounded relatively clean at the top of its volume range, as well. I’ve read that Ford has the same interest as some other OEMs of late, seeking to create sound systems that do more with less — so, less powerful amp, less resource-intensive speakers, and lighter-weight components. There are JBL systems like this in some Toyotas , and the Nissan Juke’s Rockford Fosgate system is of the same M. O. The result in all of the above is usually a system that sounds clear enough for most listeners at high volume settings, even if...
