The 24 Hours of LeMons series has been putting on races at Thunderhill Raceway in Northern California since 2007, and some of the wildest and crashiest events in LeMons history have taken place at this challenging track. The I Got Screwed award went to Team Bavarian Ranchero , a team that hacked up the body of a 1973 Ford Ranchero, attached it to a BMW 325i chassis, and painted the entire thing in Country Squire metallic-green-and-woodgrain style. The Bavarian Ranchero has been competing in California LeMons races for several years and had never cracked the top ten of a race until this weekend. In fact, the Bavarian Ranchero started Sunday’s race session in P5. Then, well, things sort of went downhill, parts started breaking, the wrecker had to be called, and the team finished 35th overall. You can hear this truck approaching on the track for hundreds of yards, even over the noise of all the race engines, and it won the Organizer’s Choice at a past race for its Tigra and Bunny -approved presence. Yes, the S10 and its nearly-stock suspension and 1966-vintage grocery-getter engine stomped every last one of those Camaros (plus most of the BMW 3-Series E30s) like so many cockroaches, and for that we gave Licensed To Ill the top prize of the...
