Instead, he crafts his bowls by hand, adding unusual, personal touches like his signature scalloped edges. That drive to create something beautiful, something unique, has propelled Durrill to spend the past 25 years reshaping Corpus Christi's landscape in his signature way. He's added character and style to the bayfront, the port, Six Points, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College through his own money and from a foundation created in honor of his daughter who was killed in a car accident. For the millions he's donated to an unknown number of organizations and causes, and the scores of public improvement projects he initiated, particularly his efforts in the past 10 years to refurbish and redevelop underused swaths of Corpus...
