City staff has been given the official go ahead by the City Council to work with skatepark advocates on the construction of a skatepark in Sylvan Park. Members of Friends of Redlands Skatepark, or FORS, during Tuesday’s City Council meeting presented their plans to raise funds to construct a park, which is estimated to cost $500,000 to $600,000. The City Council in 2013 allocated $200,000 in... “Our project vision is to create a safe and city-sanctioned community space for riders of all levels serving not only our community but with aspirations to become a destination park for individuals from all over the region,” said Maureen Perez,... The park will be a permanent concrete facility, preferably built in a single phase, but with the possibility of phasing that is contingent upon fundraising, Perez said. Perez said they were contacted by Helpful Honda Guys a few minutes before the meeting. The group also presented to the City Council a concept of what the park could look like.
