What MPGs does the 2015 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab V6 4×4 get on the highway. Why do the highway fuel efficiency run. Fill up at the gas station, get on the highway, set the cruise control, and study the results. The route consists of a 21 mile stretch of I-25 just north of Denver, Colorado. It begins at the gas station near exit 229, then goes north to exit 250. This is where we turn around and head back south to the same gas station. Once we merge onto the highway and set the cruise control at 65 mph – the run is a relatively level stretch of highway with a few rolling hills. The elevation is just over 1 mile above sea level. We then turn around at exit 250, where there is only a stop sign, and come back to the gas station (again with cruise set to 65). There was one person in the truck and a set of camera equipment. The EPA rates this Tacoma Double Cab 4×4 with the 4. 0LV6 at 21 MPG on the highway. In my traveling I’ve also noticed an MPG increase when up at elevation, but often there are stretches of crosswind that negate any advantage. Still I wonder if there really is a difference from the elevation if it’s from the less air mass to push out of the way or the less air that cycles through the engine (I definitely notice the drop in power while up there).
