The "entry level" Rolls Royce Ghost Series II aimed at the younger, entrepreneurial market has been turning some heads lately, but Germany-based car customizer Spofec is trying to turn them a bit farther. The Spofec Black One takes the Ghost and adds bespoke modification packages featuring a matte black motif and improved engine performance kits to create a car that wouldn't look out of place in the Green Hornet's garage. The Spofec SPOFEC Black One is available in two versions: one for the short wheel-base Ghost and the other for the long wheel-base. In either version, the mod comes with oversized gold-painted wheels, new brakes, and new engine and suspension modules that increase power output and torque. At first glance, the Black One looks pretty much like any other production Ghost, but a closer inspection reveals that all the chrome work, with the exception of the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, has been converted to a matte black finish, so it... Under the bonnet is an engine modification package that features a processor-controlled SPOFEC N-TRONIC plug-and play performance module designed to enhance the Ghost's electronic engine management system. This is the new Ghost, the ‘baby’ Rolls as it were, the one to take when the chauffeur’s got the day off or you’re headed to a place where parking is tight. Or, if you’re a bit mental, you could describe it as the one for our economically challenging times. The evolution over Ghost 1 is slight, measured, but obsessively attentive to even the smallest detail. New LED headlights and daytime running lights sit on the completely new face, from which ‘waft lines’ flow down the Ghost’s flanks. Rolls Royce developed their own sound system for the Ghost, because why lower the tone (excuse the pun) with a system from an external supplier. Umbrella’s pop out of the front doors, the back doors are rear hinged for ease of access, of course. The seats are described by Rolls Royce as their best ever. The leather is soft as you’d like, fashioned from bull hide because cow hide is often blemished by stretch marks. There’s an almost infinite level of customisation available, from a completely unique dashboard (its finger-print unique), to lamb’s wool carpets, to a champagne fridge, to custom door sill inlays. But honestly that’s all fluff around the edges of what Rolls Royce do best.
