Kia Sportage - Top Speed

Now for 2016, the fourth generation Sportage appears to be receiving an updated interpretation of Schreyer’s “tiger nose” design. The new design appears to be heavily influenced by the KX3 concept. The Sportage’s rear end gets LED taillights while keeping its bumper-mounted turn signals and backup lights. The Kia’s new look is expected to be more evolutionary than revolutionary in terms of its tiger nose design. Updated fog lights now flank the larger lower air intake. The fog light housing appears to be more vertical than before, helping fill the space under the new headlights. Our spy photographers did manage to grab a shot of the Sportage’s new interior. While the dashboard is largely obstructed by an engineer’s laptop, a new design is blatantly apparent. A new three-spoke steering wheel replaces the old design and features leather wrapping and plenty of redundant controls. A new gauge cluster accompanies the wheel, featuring a large center information screen. The clean design is much welcomed over the center-mounted speedometer in the current Sportage. Warned that our first drive of the 2016 Porsche Cayenne GTS would take place in extreme cold-weather conditions in northern Sweden, we’d packed the same heavy, clunky, thermal-lined work boots that serve so well for walking a dog on bitter winter... Turns out most of the day would be spent at Skellefteå Drive Center, a dedicated facility at a former airbase where we exercised the GTS by ice-dancing through a slalom, drifting on a skidpad, and challenging our car-control skills on a handling... Besides, the Cayenne GTS rewards a heavy right foot. The GTS, a Turbo-look version of Porsche’s best-selling model—which slots between the S and the Turbo—has lost two cylinders but gains 20 horsepower in the transition from its former naturally aspirated V-8 powerplant to the new twin-turbo six. This is the same blown 3. 6-liter V-6 that powers the revamped Cayenne S , but here it’s tuned to deliver 440 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque rather than 420 and 406. It’s strong enough to push two-and-a-half tons of SUV to 60 mph in less than... ) The new GTS is also said to lap the Nürburgring in 8 minutes, 13 seconds, just 14 ticks longer than Porsche claims for the mighty, 570-hp Cayenne Turbo S. Back in 1999, the 996-generation Porsche 911 GT3 managed to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 56 seconds, making it the first roadgoing Porsche to drop below the eight-minute mark. And now, at the Detroit auto show , Porsche has revealed the Cayenne Turbo S, an even quicker version of the already ridiculously fast Cayenne Turbo. And one that the company claims has managed to break the Nordschleife eight-minute barrier itself, having posted a 7:59. 74. There are some Volkswagen Group power politics at play here, as well, with the Turbo S’s debut coinciding with Bentley... Bentley execs have publicly claimed that their SUV will be the fastest in the world—in straight lines, at least. The Turbo S’s lap time is a benchmark the bigger and blingier Bentley is very unlikely to be able to match. Beyond the lap time, the S is, as its name suggests, a turned-up-to-11 version of the existing Turbo. That translates into an official 3. 8-second 0-to-60-mph time—we registered a 4. 1-second time in our test of the last, 550-hp Turbo S —with a top speed (in those parts of the world that officially quote it) of 176 mph.
