The big talk around this truck has been focused on the Cummins diesel powerplant in the Titan XD, a... But we're here to find out how you go about redesigning a truck that hasn't changed since 2002. . We gathered your questions on Facebook, and asked Diane to explain the new truck's design. R&T: Where did you start with this new design. Diane: What we wanted to do was, we wanted a whole new look that's fully capable, full size, no doubt about it. We needed to give it more of a power feel. The nose of this XD is 175 mm longer, 85 mm higher than today's Titan. R&T: Did you want to make it look like a diesel truck. Diane: We wanted to make it look like a true work truck. We've always been a play truck, but with this design we wanted to honor the new power and capability. R&T: Some folks see a resemblance to the Ford F-150 in the new Titan. This was designed and pretty much done before the Ford was revealed. Source: www.roadandtrack.com

Chapter 3 of the Truckumentary series of short films from Nissan showcases the 2016 Titan and its design team. These are the people responsible for the big Titan's exterior design and new, bigger look. The team, which works in Nissan's NDA office in San Diego, California, is headed by Diane Allen, Senior Design Manager. Allen has been with Nissan for years, working on the original Titan, the 370Z, and other powerful vehicles in Nissan's lineup. She was born and raised in Detroit and has been with Nissan for 30 years, many of which have been in her current role as design manager for various vehicle projects for North American sales. Narrating the film, Allen goes on to explain the thought process behind the new 2016 Titan's design.
