Man killed, 6 children injured in head-on collision on I-440 in Nashville - WKRN.com

(WKRN) – A man was killed in a two-car crash on Interstate 440 near Interstate 65 in Nashville Wednesday afternoon. The man killed was identified as 49-year-old Hussain Al-Sarhan of Darlene Drive. Al-Sarhan was the driver of a 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette van that was struck head-on by a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder driven by 22-year-old Adam Cogdal of Murfreesboro. Fatima, 14, Ala, 12, and Wla, 10. The other three children were Al-Sarhan’s nieces. Zeinab, 11, and Zahra, 13, and his nephew, Ali, 9. Zeinab was taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where she was last listed in stable condition. Ali and Zahra were also last listed in stable condition. The other five children sustained non-life threatening injuries and were also transported to Vanderbilt. Cogdal was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Source: wkrn.com

Following the company's recall of more than 400,000 models earlier in March, Nissan has again alerted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Saturday that it is expanding its recall to include another 226,326 vehicles. The latest recall involves Nissan's Infiniti I35, Maxima and Pathfinder models released from 2002 to 2003, Nissan Sentra vehicles with model year 2002 to 2004, and the 2003 Infiniti FX mid-size luxury crossover SUV. In a statement posted on the company website, Nissan says the recall involves a defective airbag that may cause too much internal pressure on the inflator, making it rupture as the airbag is deployed and send pieces of metal flying all over the... "In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants," says Nissan. "This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts. Nissan spokesperson Brian Brockman says the company is not aware of cases of injuries or casualties resulting from the defective airbag and that the recall is a measure to prevent unwanted accidents in the future. Report: Nissan drops Pathfinder Hybrid, reduces production of Infiniti QX60 Hybrid - eGMCarTech

CARandDRIVER apparently heard through the grapevine that Nissan and Infiniti are making some adjustments to their hybrid offerings. For instance, the Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid was revealed at the 2014 New York Auto Show but since then, it happens to be one of the brand’s slowest-selling models. This is because the Pathfinder Hybrid only manages to offer a marginal increase in fuel economy over the standard model, which CARandDRIVER reports in their finding, is not worth the up sell to the hybrid since it doesn’t exactly fulfill its premise. However, despite the original report saying that the QX60 too will be dropped, Infiniti issued a statement saying that the QX60 Hybrid remains in production, however priority is set for the standard 3. 5 model.
