With a coil-sprung rear end, Nissans latest dual-cab Navara ute promises the on-road feel of an SUV without compromising its capabilities in the rough. That makes it even more able to fill in on family duties after a hard week as a work ute. OVERVIEW At the top end of the Navara range , you could be forgiven for thinking you’d taken a seat in a highly-specced SUV. There’s some pretty luxurious features creeping into the 'once humble' dual-cab ute. That’s all well and good, but not everyone is keen to drop $50k on a ute, particularly one that might end up a little dog-eared thanks to the rigours of hard work. At the bottom of the range, the NP300 Navara offers the petrol 4x2 DX dual-cab at $26,490. those in search of value-buying and a diesel engine and 4x4 need to step into the RX being tested here. Far from bare-boned though, the RX offers four doors, seating for five, plus plenty of handy features. We gave the new Navara a week of TMR hard work to see where it stood in the competitive dual-cab segment. How'd it go. CASTROL Team Toyota Hilux crew Leeroy Poulter and Rob Howie clamped a vicelike grip on the Production Vehicle championship when they won the Nkomazi 450, round four of the Donaldson Cross Country Championship. Poulter/Howie won the RFS Endurance and Sugarbelt 450, and shared heat wins with team-mates Anthony Taylor and Dennis Murphy on the Toyota 1,000 Desert Race in Botswana. After a faultless performance that saw them also win the 100km qualifying event to determine race grid positions, Poulter and Howie were well clear of second placed Jurgen and Max Schröder in the Regent Racing Nissan Navara. For the German crew it was their best result with the pair two minutes and 44 seconds ahead of local favourites Johan and Werner Horn (Malalane Toyota Hilux), who staged a stirring comeback from the back of the field to claim a place on the podium. The Schröders also had a good outing on the Toyota Desert Race and carried their good form into this race. The two factory Ford Performance Ford Rangers of Lance Woolridge/Ward Huxtable and Chris Visser/Japie Badenhorst were among the casualties, along with Gareth Woolridge and Boyd Dreyer in the Neil Woolridge Motorsport Ranger. All-new 2016 Nissan NP300 Navara pick-up details and pictures revealed - Sunday Times Driving (blog)

NISSAN HAS released details of its all-new 12th-generation Navara pick-up, which is due to be launched at the Frankfurt motor show next month. View the used Nissan Navaras for sale on driving. It will be powered by a new 2. 3-litre dCi engine with either 158bhp or 188bhp, which Nissan claims is 24% more efficient than the 2. 5-litre unit it replaces. In addition, Nissan says the new NP300 Navara (to give it its full name) has class-leading capabilities when it comes to towing (3,500kg) and payload (more than a ton across the range). The Double Cab version’s load bed is 67mm longer than that of the previous model, at 1,578mm. the King Cab (which comes without the second row of seats) stretches load length to 1,788mm. Under the skin there have been revisions to the suspension... The 2016 Nissan Navara will be available with either two-wheel or four-wheel drive from launch, the latter being an evolution of the 4x4 system in the current model.
