Within the current cult of the SUV lies a sub-cult that surrounds dual-cab four-wheel-drive utilities. While the world has been going crazy for compact soft-roaders, the dual-cab off-roader has also quietly been chipping away at the market and making some big inroads in the process. Toyota’s Hi-Lux is one and the Mitsubishi Triton is another popular vehicle in dual-cab all-wheel-drive form. But the Nissan Navara from the middle of last decade onwards is also a very common sight on roads these days. The theory is simple enough: Here is a vehicle that is tough enough to pass muster as a tradie’s ute, seats enough backsides to be family transport and has the added bonus of four-wheel-drive for towing or weekend escapes into the bush. The vehicles we’re talking about are the D40 Navara models which launched here in late 2005. The most popular version was the turbo-diesel model with the dual-cab. The engine is a 2. 5-litre four-cylinder diesel which makes 128kW of power and a decent 403NM of torque. Nissan recalls 40000 Navara D40 4WDs - Cars Guide

Nissan is recalling 40,400 (out of as many as 90,000 4x4 models it sold in the time period) of its Navara D40 series, manufactured in Spain between July 2005 and January 2010, for an inspection. A redesigned Nissan replacement towbar (with additional mounting points) and welded repairs to any chassis cracks - some as wide as 2. 5mm according to owners - will be completed for those with faulty genuine Nissan towbars. The company said the problem relates to faulty towbar designs specific to the Spanish-built D40 ST-X and RX model Navara and while 40,400 vehicles were being recalled for inspection under this campaign, around 9800 were fitted with the affected...   • 2009 Nissan D40 Navara Dual-Cab ST-X Diesel Review

    WHEN THE D40 NAVARA first appeared on the scene four years ago, it was a breath of fresh air for the light commercial sector.

    With class-leading ride and handling levels, and a diesel that - on paper - punched holes in the competition, it sold up a storm and continues to do so.

    Today the D40 Navara remains Nissan Australia’s best selling model range. But does it continue to measure up to the hype metered out by motoring journos over the past four years, or has the competition moved the game along?

    To find out, we took a diesel automatic D40 Dual-Cab up into Victoria’s high-country to see how it got on, on and off the road.

    Styling

    A common theme in this segment (Triton aside) is simple box-like styling. In this regard the D40 lifted the bar on its arrival and continues to attract buyers who find the wide, chunky and muscular styling of the Navara appealing.

    It is certainly handsome enough in a US-truck kind of way. Nissan's design DNA can be seen in the chrome angled-strut grille (where a hint of big brother Patrol can be seen) and fender flares, which are not add-ons, but integral to the exterior panel pressings.

    The light commercial segment is undergoing some change and manufacturers are now looking to inject some design flair into their ‘working’ models, following Mitsubishi’s lead with the Triton. Recent spy images of the 2011 Ford/Mazda Ranger/BT50 have revealed some appealing curves. No-doubt, others will follow.

    In the meantime, the Navara's styling maintains the edge on market leader HiLux, which looks under-tyred, nose-heavy and awkward. The Navara also more than holds its own against the likes of D-Max, Colorado, BT50 and Ranger.

    Mechanical Package

    All models in the D40 Navara range are available with the same YD series 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine as fitted to our test vehicle.

    With peak power of 128kW and maximum torque of 403 Nm at just 2000 rpm, the 'little' diesel eclipsed the field with its outputs back in 2005.

    It features 16-valves, double overhead camshafts, second-generation common rail technology and a variable nozzle turbocharger which is said to deliver lower emissions as well as more power.

    For those who prefer a petrol engine, the Navara is available with Nissan’s robust and punchy VQ40 198kW 4.0-litre V6 engine. Either engine choice is available with a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic (as fitted to our test vehicle).

    The Navara's party piece is its part-time four-wheel drive system, another area in which it has until recently, led the way in the light commercial segment.

    The system is driver-selectable via a rotary switch on the centre console and confirmed by a dashboard mode indicator.

    In 2WD, drive is delivered to the rear wheels, but once four-wheel drive (4H) is electrically engaged, torque is split on a 50/50 basis between the front and rear axles to cope with slippery conditions.

    With 4H selected the Navara can be still be driven on the bitumen much like an AWD vehicle, providing an additional level of safety and surefootedness in slippery conditions.

    For real off-road work, 4L can be selected, with Navara’s low ratio (2.625) being one of the best in class on its debut.

    Underneath the Navara is a ladder-frame chassis with an independent front suspension system that features double wishbones and coil springs.

    The rear suspension is a rigid axle with over-slung leaf springs; it provides a surprisingly compliant ride given its 'built to carry a load' specification.

    Steering is power-assisted rack and pinion, while the braking system has ventilated discs up front, and, like most in the segment, drums at the rear. ABS with EBD and Brake Assist is a standard feature.

    Interior and Equipment

    The Navara continues to lead the field on the inside, at least up-front.

    The front seats are comfortable and supportive with an adjustable driver’s seat cushion making all the difference, something that is, unbelievably, still not a feature in some of its light commercial competitors.

    Navara RX models come standard with an in-dash single CD, central locking, air-conditioning and a split-fold rear bench.

    The ST-X model (as tested) adds an in-dash six-stack CD player, power windows and mirrors, remote central locking, ‘utili-track’ cargo securing system, alloy wheels, side steps, leather-bound steering wheel with cruise control, dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes and seatbelt pretensioners.

    Importantly for a vehicle with off-road aspirations, the Navara is well-equipped with grab handles, both on the A and B-pillars and above the doors.

    The Navara Dual Cab features a three-seater rear bench that may once have set the pace but is now only adequate. Triton now leads the way in the rear, with the Navara's rear seats feeling upright and too short in the seat cushion by comparison.

    The rear bench seat in the Navara however flips up on a 60/40 split to create extra storage space behind the front seats.

    Cabin storage space has been thoughtfully conceived. The cabin has two glove-boxes ahead of the front passenger, offering a total of 6.4-litres of space, a 6.0-litre storage box within the centre console and a small storage area on top of the dashboard.

    Coin, cup and card holders can also be found in the centre console, while there’s a sunglass holder on ST-X models in a practical overhead console in the roof.

    The rear tray provides impressive load space for a dual-cab measuring 2.36m2. It has a minimum width between the wheel-housings of 1130mm and an internal bed-length of 1511mm.

    The D40 Navara's ability to deal with a load is further enhanced by the unique ‘c-channel utili-track’ system that is standard fitment on ST-X models.

    This factory-fitted system incorporates five rails (one channel on either side of the load floor, plus one on each of the three fixed sides of the pick-up bed) into which self-locking cleats can be placed, providing fixed points for securing ropes and a range of accessories designed to work with the c-channel.

    Built in Spain, the Navara offers a similar level of fit and finish (inside and out) to its main rivals, which are now largely manufactured in Thailand.

    The Drive

    When it comes to on-road ability and comfort, the D40 Navara is clearly still a segment leader. It steers, corners, grips and goes in a manner more reminiscent of a large car or SUV.

    The accommodation for driver and front seat passenger arguably also bests its competitors.

    On the open road, the Navara belies its size and feels 'light' and car-like. On winding roads, its abilities (and remember it is almost a two-tonne light truck) will have you believing that you can chuck the Navara into corners... and you can within reason.

    The Navara's excellent road manners come at a price though. Softer spring rates see load capacity limited to just over 800kg, when most of its rivals can manage closer to 1000kg.

    However being rated to tow 3000kg (trailer with brakes) wins a few points back for the Navara, making it a popular choice for those wanting to tow vans and boats.

    The Navara is wide (1850mm) and, with a turning circle of 13.3 metres, can be a handful both on and off the road. Manoeuvring around carparks and obstacles can prove challenging.

    And, while no doubt assisting its impressive on-road manners, the ride height is lower than the competition. Unfortunately, this means less underbody clearance when off the road and in the rough, especially when combined with the ST-X's low-hanging side steps.

    With cubic inches in short supply, the Navara's diesel engine has to be revved to access to that 403Nm of torque. Keeping the Navara 'on song' means regularly seeing in excess of 3000 rpm which would be okay if the engine noise was pleasant.

    When pushed, the Navara’s diesel is smooth but sounds thrashy, and given this engine’s requirement for revs, the noise becomes a constant feature of every drive.

    That little 2.5-litre diesel may punch above its weight in the power stakes, but its lack of low-down torque now sees it outclassed when it comes to efficiency.

    We averaged 12.8 l/100 km on test, a figure bettered by the larger engined (3.2-litre) and more heavily-loaded Triton we tested in the same region last year.

    With a sophisticated 4WD drive system (only recently matched by Mitsubishi with the release of the Superselect equipped Triton), the Navara acquits itself well on the dirt.

    Select 4H on the fly and loose dirt roads are a breeze to navigate. The relatively soft suspension handles bumps and corrugations surprisingly well, and the Navara feels quite sure-footed and composed.

    In the first part of the foray off the gravel and onto more challenging terrain, the Navara took things in its stride. Some damp steep trails and mild bog holes posed no real problems traction-wise, Navara's road tyres being the limiting factor in these environments.

    Despite the limitations of the tyres, the Navara's 4WD system in low range proved itself more than capable when the going gets rough. It dealt with more than one steep and slippery slope that we were not expecting to clamber over.

    In nosing down some of the steeper tracks, the Navara's low range gearing was put to the acid test and we found ourselves constantly on the brakes in order to keep the speed down. The brakes held up well, but the pedal travel is too long and lacks any real feel.

    On the rougher tracks however, the Navara's real off-road shortcoming revealed itself.

    That relatively low ride-height had the Navara dragging its underbody and/or sidesteps over the crests and even catching the towbar on some of the steeper hollows and wash-outs. This had us fairly crawling – inching – through some sections.

    A steep damp bush trail is where you can really test the mettle of your vehicle, putting drive systems, traction and engines all to the test in equal measure.

    The Navara (in damp, not wet conditions) proved that traction wasn't an issue but accessing the torque of the diesel was.

    Ideally, on slippery or rocky trails, you want to be able to make progress with a minimum of revs and speed on-board.

    In other words you want low-down torque and the Navara's little diesel comes up short, needing a big rev and forcing you to carry too much speed through some of the pinches.

    The Navara offers an interesting mix: it continues to offer some of the best attributes of its class, but it also falls short in others.

    Ultimately, it will come down to deciding what you want from your truck.

    If you're looking for a dual-cab ute and plan to take it bush on some reasonably serious trails or carry a load on a regular basis, then there are better factory-standard choices on offer.

    Nissan's own D22 Navara is rated to carry over 1000kg and tow 2,800kg (trailer with brakes) and would arguably be a better off-road proposition.

    Alternatively, HiLux, Triton and BT50/Ranger will provide a better diesel 4WD or workhorse experience.

    Should you still want the Navara for this work, then you'll be looking at a suspension lift and upgrade at the very least, changes that may impact on its superior on-road manners.

    If on the other hand your new dual-cab ute will spend most of its time on the blacktop, or on regular dirt roads, then the composed Navara makes a compelling case.

    Nothing in this segment drives as well on-road or is as comfortable to pilot as the Navara. For many buyers, that will be all that matters.

    Which leaves one final question for consideration. Petrol or Diesel?

    The Navara's comparatively small, yet powerful diesel engine impressed with its on-road performance but fell short when it really had to work. It lacks the low-down torque for which turbo-diesels are renowned and needs to be revved to perform, the reward in heavy going being a constant and irritating engine noise.

    But it’s ‘horses for courses’. If it was our money, and we were spending most of the time behind the wheel on the blacktop, we'd be having a close look at the petrol-powered Navara, even if it meant paying a little more at the bowser.

    With Nissan's proven and powerful 4.0-litre V6 under the bonnet, the petrol powered D40 Navara ST-X could very well be the ultimate urban 4WD dual-purpose, dual-cab ute.

    Nissan Navara is the name for the D22 and D40 generations of Nissan pickup trucks sold in Asia, Australia and Europe; in North, Central and South America and the Philippines it is sold as the Nissan Frontier. The line began in 1997, replacing the D21 Nissan Hardbody truck. As of 2002, the D22 series pickup is no longer sold in Japan; the D22's primary market being North America. It is now built at the Nissan factory in Canton, Mississippi.

    Nissan was the pioneer of the "Hardbody" or "Nissan Frontier" since 1986. The first was the D21, considered to be a small pick up. After more than 10 years with the D21, the second generation Navara was manufactured from 1997 and went until 2004 which was classed as a compact sized pick up. It was replaced with the bigger, taller, longer D40, which Nissan now considers to be a mid-size pick up truck.

    The Navara gets its name from the Navarre region of northern Spain, and the European version is built at the Nissan factory in Barcelona. In many European markets it is sold as the Nissan NP300.

    The Frontier was introduced in 1997 for the 1998 model year as a replacement for the aging 1986.5–1997 Nissan Hardbody Truck. Nissan first offered the Frontier with a 4-cylinder engine, the KA24DE, but added the V6 engine, the VG33E in 1999. In Australia the D22 had the KA24E till 1999, then changed to KA24DE option that year, a 3.0L V6 was introduced in June 2000. In February 2003, 4x4 models received a larger 3.3L V6 (available only with a 5-speed manual), while 4x2 models continued with the 3.0L V6 (with manual or automatic transmissions). The V6 was dropped in 2005, leaving the 2.5L turbo diesel as the only available engine. Elsewhere, the Frontier was also known as the Nissan Navara.

    A four-door version of the D22 was designed and developed during 1997–1998, being first produced in April 1999 and launched in May 1999 as the 2000 Frontier Crew Cab.

    In February 2000 at the Chicago Auto Show, Nissan introduced a facelifted Frontier for 2001, with bolder styling in an effort to make it more appealing to younger buyers in its second generation. The Frontier was completely redone after the 2004 model year, which later resulted in the indefinite discontinuation of the regular cab model.[9]

    Built in Tennessee from 1997 to 2000. Versions: Single cab, King Cab, Crew Cab (Introduced in 1999). Engines: Petrol (KA24DE) and Diesel (TD27) (2wd and 4wd) with 5 speed manual transmission. These models were also exported to Central and South America. US production in Tennessee started in 1997 with a Single cab and a King cab. A Crew Cab was developed during 1998 and arrived in 1999 as a 2000 model.[10][11][12]

    In 1999, a special edition was offered. Nissan called it the Desert Runner. It had a king cab base but on the 4X4 frame which gave it a boost in ride height, bigger tires and a 4- or 5-speed 2WD drivetrain. For 2001 the Desert Runner got a new look and a supercharged version of the V6 engine.

    The D22 Navara was a compact size pick up truck manufactured from 1997 to 2004. However, Nissan continues to build the D22 as a cheaper alternative to the current D40, and is known as "Pickup".[citation needed]

    Originally planned to follow the D21 Hard Body in being designed by Nissan Design International in La Jolla, CA, design of the D22 was reluctantly given to Japan during the 1994–1995 period. This was due to NDI being busy with many design projects of for concepts and models, such as the Quest (VX54 II), Altima (L30), and Maxima (A32.5). Design of an updated D22 was eventually given to NDI in 1998.[13]

    The first series of D22s had larger (QD32) 3.2-litre normally aspirated Diesel engines producing 75 kW. The second series has 4 available engine types. They were as follows:

    Currently the D22 Navara series remains on Nissan lineup for many countries and is known as Nissan NP300, Pickup, Frontier and Navara D22. In 2009 the D22 was updated with redesigned exterior door handles.

    The Navara (D22) was no longer sold in Japan after 2002. Sales and production started in North America, with Crew Cab and King Cab versions and new grille, bumper, headlights, taillights. Other body changes included built in fender flares and tailgates. Available engines include a petrol 143 hp (107 kW) 2.4-liter Inline-4, 180 hp (134 kW) 3.3-liter V6, and a 210 hp (157 kW) 3.3-liter V6 Supercharged version. It is available with both 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive. Nissan began exporting the second generation to central and South America where it is called the Nissan Frontier. Single cabs and crew cabs are available with the Petrol or Diesel engines, 2wd and 4wd. It is also available in Australia and New Zealand. The Brazilian plant started production around 2002 (Crew Cab Diesel 2wd or 4wd, 5-speed manual, or single cab 2wd Diesel. Only for Mexican market: petrol 2.4L manufactured in Mexico) and export to Argentina (all Brazilian versions) and Mexico (Crew Cab, Petrol 2.4L, 2wd, Manual 5-speed). The Egyptian Plant exports to the Middle East, and a South African Plant to African countries.     Initially, the Frontier was considered a compact, but beginning with the totally redesigned model year 2005 Frontier (introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show), it became more mid-sized (as did rival Toyota Tacoma for this model year). It uses the new Nissan F-Alpha platform and exterior body styling resembles that of the company's full-size Nissan Titan truck. In 2012 production was shifted from Smyrna, Tennessee to Canton Mississippi.

    The new truck has a fully boxed ladder frame. The wheelbase is 125.9 in (3.20 m) with a 205.5 in (5.22 m) overall length. Towing capacity is 6500 lb (2,950 kg). A 4.0 L VQ-family V6, the VQ40DE, is the standard engine, and it produces 261 hp (195 kW) and 281 pound-feet (381 N·m) of torque. Also available is the QR25DE four-cylinder engine, which is also found in the Nissan Altima. It produces 152 hp (113 kW) and 171 pound-feet (232 N·m) of torque. A six-speed manual is standard with a five-speed automatic optional. Both rear and four-wheel drive are available. Traction control and hill-descent control are also available.

    The Frontier is called Navara when sold in Europe. The engine is a 2.5 L YD25DDTi diesel, with 142 hp (106 kW) or 172 hp (128 kW). The stronger version has 403 N·m (297 lb·ft) of torque.

    Nissan of Bolivia imports the D40 and D22. Sourced from Japan are the Nissan Frontier D-22 Crew Cab 4x4 and from Mexico the D-22 Crew Cab and single cab long bed 4x2. Nissan of Bolivia imports a Nissan Navara D40 Crew Cab as well. Some Frontier D40s are imported from the United States with a V6 and automatic transmission. 2009 Suzuki Equator extended cab

    Suzuki has begun selling a Frontier-based mid-sized pickup that is produced by Nissan North America at the Smyrna plant.[15] The truck debuted at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show as the Suzuki Equator.[16] For 2009 the Frontier will get a face lift with more options, colors, and new wheels. The Nismo model will be replaced by a new PRO-4X model. Suzuki eventually discontinued the Equator in 2013.

    D40 Navara[edit]

    The Navara came with a 174 bhp (130 kW; 176 PS) (169 bhp (126 kW; 171 PS) engine on post September '06 vehicles with the introduction of the Euro IV compliant engine). It has four trim levels, the S, SE, Outlaw and Aventura. The Aventura trim package is equipped with leather upholstery, Dual Zone Climate Control, 6 CD/MP3 changer and satellite navigation as standard.

    In Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, the D40 Navara has a few differences from the UK versions. There are 2 engines available, 2.5-liter Turbo-charged Diesel engine and the V-6 petrol. The Diesel engine in 4WD models produces 128 kW (172 hp) at 4000 rpm and 403 N·m (297 lb·ft) at 2000 rpm, with the 2WD models producing less at 106 kW (142 hp) at 4000 rpm and 356 N·m (263 lb·ft) at 2000 rpm. The V-6 produces 198 kW (266 hp) at 5600 rpm of power and 385 N·m (284 lb·ft) at 4000 rpm. Both engines come with a standard 5-speed Automatic, with a 6-speed manual available for the Diesel. These models do not have leather, climate control or satellite navigation system like their UK versions.

    The 2008 model of the Navara was launched on July 2. Changes included a new style of alloy wheels, bluetooth as standard, side work lights and indicators on the wing mirrors.

    The 2008 Single Cab became available in Thailand March 6. The 2.5 engine reduces the torque output from 356 N·m (263 ft·lbf) to 294 N·m (217 ft·lbf) @ 2,000 rpm. This model has 15" wheels. Power steering is standard. Also available are electric mirrors and central power locking as optional extra. Nissan planned to sell the single cab and began to export worldwide at the same month. Nissan also continues to sell the D22 pickups with minor updates for a lower price (now called as Frontier LCV).

    The Nissan Navara Double Cab became available in Malaysia on November 5, 2008. It is available with a 2.5L diesel engine producing 128 kW (172 hp) and 403 N·m (297 ft·lbf), only with a 5-speed automatic. A year later the 6-speed manual version became available. The D22 series Nissan Frontier remains on sale in Malaysia with a manual transmission.[17] In November 2008 Nissan Thailand Released the all new Nissan Navara Calibre with a 144 PS (106 kW) @4000 rpm 36.3 kg·m (356 N·m; 263 ft·lbf) @2000 rpm available with a 5-speed automatic an a 6-speed manual transmissions.

    Facelift[edit] 2011 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X (US)

    For North American Frontiers model year 2009, and European Navarras model year 2010, Nissan updated the shape of some minor components.

    The 2010 Nissan Navara facelift are now powered by a new 3.0-litre V6 turbo V9X Engine diesel engine producing 240 hp (175 kW),406 lb-ft (500 Nm) @ 2,500 rpm and a revised 2.5-litre dCi unit(YD25DDTi High Power). The 2011 Nissan Navara and Pathfinder facelift V6 develop 170 kW (231 PS) and 550 Nm of torque between 1,700 rpm and 2,500 rpm and the famous YD engine which produces 190 PS (140 kW) and 450 Nm of torque and the VQ40DE remains the same with the 261 hp (195 kW) @5600 rpm; 281 pound-feet (381 N·m) @4000 rpm.

    There are subtle changes to the headlights and the bonnet. The v-shaped grille shell is less pronounced and the bumper is rounder and projects 80 mm further forward, but the six-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels or optional 18-inch alloy wheels are the biggest change.

    Inside the new Navara (top of the line model), Nissan designers have specified softer materials of a better quality for the dash, seats and interior moulds. The centre console and fascia designs have been revised, as have the instrument binnacle layout and door trims. Additional bright/gloss finish surfacing is used throughout the cabin. The six-stack CD audio system or the TV Navigation entertainment console is upgraded with speed-sensing volume, MP3 compatibility and Bluetooth connectivity for the (six disc CD audio system). Other new or revised features include dual-zone climate control, remote audio/Bluetooth/trip computer controls on the steering wheel, trip computer, external temperature gauge, speed-sensitive variable windscreen wipers and 'follow me home' lighting. The electric mirrors now fold in fully for car washes or parking in narrow spaces.

    Importantly, the upgraded Navara (diesel only) gains stability control, which Nissan calls Vehicle Dynamics Control and all petrol V6 and diesel variants gain side-impact and side-curtain airbags to complement the dual front airbags.

    On June 11, 2014, Nissan unveiled the 12th generation pickup, the D23 Navara, for non-US markets. Series production will commence at a new $360 million plant in Samut Prakan, Thailand in July 2014 and deliveries began in August. A Nissan North America spokesperson, Dan Bedore, has stated that the D23 is not indicative of a D40 Frontier replacement.[18][19][20][21] The European model will feature a 2.3-litre engine from the Nissan NV400.[22]

    International production facilities[edit]

    The Frontier is known as Nissan Navara in most of Europe, Australia, New Zealand,Jamaica, and South Africa and Nissan Terrano in Chile (only the D40 series is known as Navara). It is currently built in Canton, Mississippi, Spain, South Africa, Thailand, Philippines, China, Malaysia, Mexico, Brazil and Egypt.

    The D40 Navara has undergone Euro NCAP crash testing along with the Mitsubishi Triton and Isuzu D-Max, and received one star with a strikeout; however, after retesting with upgraded computer software it went from the lowest in the group to the highest (overall) with 3 stars. Among the problems discovered during the test was delayed airbag deployment and insufficient seatbelt restraint, which were solved with the software upgrade. The car receives good rating in Frontal Offset Test, Side Impact, and Roof Test by IIHS but only Acceptable in rear impact.[citation needed]

    Motorsports[edit]

    The D40 Frontier platform is currently being used as a Stage Rally vehicle by the NISMO Stuff Racing effort currently competing in the Coupe Rallye Quebec series. This team has been racing the current D40 Frontier for over two years with eight stage rallies and two hill climbs under its belt having never suffered a mechanical failure of any kind.

    Nissan South Africa campaigned both the D22 and D40 platforms very successfully in the local ABSA Off-Road Series, winning eight consecutive driver’s championships[23] (2001 to 2008). The vehicles were prepared by Hallspeed South Africa. Hallspeed also developed and sold vehicles to the Belgian based company Overdrive. For several years Overdrive have competed with the Hallspeed built vehicles in the European rally Raid series, including The Dakar.[24]

    The latest evolution of an indestructibly robust range of Nissan vehicles, the Navara draws on a 50 year heritage of engine building expertise, muscling to the front of its class for pure power performance.

    Nissan Navara is only offered with a newly designed 2.5L diesel, but its 4WD models produce a whopping 174 horsepower, 403 NM torque, which is best in its class and is quite impressive for a 2.5L. It is also offered with a new 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. It offers shift on the fly to 4WD (H) through an electronic switch on the dash. 4WD (L) is also engaged electronically via this switch. It also features not only driver side airbag but also a passenger side airbag  and EBD, a system that optimizes rear brake force depending on the load. The top LE model offers a CD/MP3 6-disc player as standard equipment for the price of 849,000 baht in the Double Cab 2.5L LE A/T 4WD with ABS+ABS.
