Full-size front-wheel-drive sedans are a dying breed, their numbers decimated by the invasive species known as the crossover. The latest Chevrolet Impala is, hands down, one of the finest sedans GM has ever produced. Nissan calls the eye-catching style V-Motion, and the Maxima shares it with the Nissan Murano , one of those evil crossovers. (Hey, you can’t blame Nissan for hedging its bets. Despite being positioned above the “midsize” Altima in Nissan’s lineup, the Maxima is slightly smaller inside. This kind of segment creep is another existential threat to the true large car segment, but the Maxima is still plenty roomy, and when you slink down into it there’s a lot more “oh yeah, that feels good” to the experience. Imagine they squeezed a third, Buick-like division between Nissan and Infiniti and you get the idea. Five trim levels are available, starting at $33,235. Each represents a higher level of equipment – there are no individual options – but are all more or less mechanically the same. WASHINGTON — Nissan North America is recalling 5,458 2016 Nissan Maxima sedans in the U. S. because a fuel leak may increase the risk of fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. "In the affected vehicles, due to an improperly installed O-ring that may not have been seated correctly at the time of assembly, fuel may leak during a crash from the area where the fuel-sending unit attaches to the fuel tank," NHTSA said in its... "If fuel leaks from between the fuel-sending unit and the tank, it may increase the risk of a fire in the event of a crash. Nissan also said it is continuing its investigation "into whether this issue possibly affects certain other Nissan vehicles equipped with similar fuel tanks and expects to provide an additional update to NHTSA as quickly as possible. "Nissan will notify potentially affected owners as quickly as possible," wrote Steve Yaeger, a Nissan spokesman, in response to a query from Edmunds. "Nissan is currently confirming the appropriate remedy for this issue and expects to distribute the remedy instructions to the dealers within two weeks. WEST BABYLON, N. Y. –– A driver lost control of his car and slammed into a West Babylon house, killing a 17-year-old girl and severely injuring two people Sunday night, police said. Suffolk County police said Aramis Broadus was driving a 2010 Nissan Maxima northbound on Little East Neck road near Gordon Avenue about 8:50 p. m. Sunday when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a telephone pole and a house located at 1152... Broadus and his three passengers, 18-year-old Chyna Adams, 20-year-old Robert Jones and 17-year-old Kenya Jimenez were taken to a local hospital, cops said.
