-- returnText2 = Q: My mother had a 1995 Saturn SL2 with a four-speed automatic transmission that had a “performance” button. For example, when I would cruise at 62 mph in fourth gear and floor the acceleration, the transmission would drop to second gear, even though the engine was revving only 500 rpm shy of its max, or redline. The transmission would then hold in second gear until just past redline and then upshift and hold in third until again just past redline — exactly what I’d do with a stick shift for maximum acceleration. I know some current cars have so-called performance buttons, but do they work as well as this Saturn’s did. Your mom’s Saturn, for example, offered a different type of automatic transmission shift-mapping when its performance button was selected, causing the transmission to hold each gear longer, limiting torque converter clutch usage, firming shifts,... Most performance buttons now perform similar transmission tricks and more. Porsche performance mode allows for additional turbo boost, while other automaker’s modes may optimize valve lift and duration, increasing engine torque. Source: www.bendbulletin.com

Former Trans-Am champion Tommy Kendall told Stone and Lerner, “I think Paul felt that a big part of his career in acting was dumb-ass luck. Racing gives nothing to anyone. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and this guy is the best there ever was. “Everyone knows about [ Winning ],” says Sam Posey, a veteran Indy 500 driver and former ABC Sports commentator. “But they pass over the next phase because it looked so boring—a boxy little sedan doing lap after lap at Lime Rock. ” Newman had no talent at all, Posey says, but unlike a lot of actor-drivers, he had the humility to begin in slow cars, sticking with it beyond the point of frustration. Preparations for a jury trial continue in the auto crash killing of four local young people and near-fatal injuries to a fifth person. Nicholas W. Anderson, age 38, who had recently moved from Oregon to Washington, is charged with four counts of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and one count of vehicular assault while driving under the... Anderson entered a plea of not guilty for the October 25, 2014 crash. In lieu of posting $750,000 for bail, Anderson remains jailed in Kent. Killed in the early morning crash were Suzanne McCay, age 29, and Andy Tedford, age 31, who were both Tahoma High School graduates. James Vaccaro, age 23, who sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash, has been interviewed and will most likely appear at the trial set for Tuesday, Sept. Due to the amount of casualties, extent of injury, and catastrophic nature of the crash, a second prosecutor, Susan Harrison, is assisting King County Prosecutor Amy Freedheim.
