Suspect in Lowell drug deal found hiding behind dog house after chase - Lowell Sun

LOWELL -- Eric M. Silva hobbled into Lowell District Court Monday on crutches with a broken foot and wrist after he was injured fleeing police. 4, members of Lowell's Special Investigations Section were monitoring South Lowell section of the city for drug activity when they noticed at 1 p. m. a Kia Sephia parked on Greenwood Street by the park. After 15 minutes of surveillance, the Kia pulled out and Silva got into the car, which then drove around and returned close to drop off Silva minutes later. Police then saw Silva and Roberto Nieves leave and walk toward Keene Street. When officers approached the pair, initially they complied with orders to put their hands on a nearby fence, then Silva allegedly bolted and fled toward Chapel Street, police allege. As Detective Judy Pothimath chased Silva on foot, ordering Silva to stop, Silva allegedly stopped and shoved Pothimath backward, causing her to stumble backward. Other detectivevs joined in the chase through the rear of a housing unit on Chapel Street and then onto Central Street. Silva then ran across Central Street, forcing traffic to stop, and began to hop several fences and run through backyards to escape police. As Kia debuts the K900—its first-ever true luxury sedan—at the 2013 L. A. auto show , the automaker asks that you consider how far it has come since entering the U. S. market 20 years ago. Looking at the K900’s spec sheet, and then at its rich styling and rear-drive layout, and then its spec sheet again, it’s easy to drink Kia’s self-congratulatory Kool-Aid. After all, this is a brand that started out building bicycles in Korea in the 1950s, and then launched itself stateside with the dreary Sephia sedan in 1994. Now, the K900 arrives in the U. S. with the mission of fortifying Kia’s luxury... The K900, which is already on sale in Korea, leaves Kia’s womb a fraternal twin, paired architecturally as it is with Hyundai’s rear-drive Genesis sedan. Although there are traces of the Genesis in the K900’s general proportions, the look is pure Kia, and in a good way. Fine details abound, such as the pinched side-vent shape that mimics the grille and Kia’s attractive “soft LED” head- and taillight accents. That gives this weekend’s race the best True-Lemons-To-Boring-Cars Ratio (TLTBCR) we’ve ever seen, and so we geared up for an exciting all-out Class C slugfest during the first race session. Mock Grass Racing and their 1998 Kia Sephia have been struggling to get on top of Class C for quite a few races now, and it must have taken the menace of 15 parts-shedding, 45-minute-driver-change, 500-treadwear-tire-equipped rivals to spur on the...
