We have to win district to get in. Nowadays, you can afford to lose one, and you’re still going to be OK. ”. No matter how you feel about “everybody and their uncle” getting into the postseason, it does make things much easier for people like me... In fact, we’re only two weeks into the district season for many of our schools around the area, and several of them are in fantastic shape to get in. After all, with four teams making it out of six-team leagues, two wins should do it. It’s a... Still, the value of even district games has diminished a little, but you’ve still got to win enough of them to get in no matter how many playoff spots there are. With that said, it’s time to take stock of how our area teams’ playoff hopes stand. Teams will either be in, have work to do or be out, and I’m only dealing with teams in the Trib’s coverage area. After all, nobody’s 100 percent eliminated even with two losses, and there have only been two games played in our six-team districts. I’ll revisit it in two weeks with the TAPPS and six-man teams. McGregor, West and Comanche are 1-1, Hillsboro was off Friday and is 0-1, but the most baffling part of this race is which team resides at the bottom. Grandview was the presumed district favorite coming in and certainly appeared that way when it led McGregor, 35-12, in the second quarter last week. But the Bulldogs rallied for the win, 54-35, and the Zebras stumbled against Comanche, 56-42. If the scores I’ve shown here are any indication, it’s going to be three-ring circus every Friday with a ton of points going up on the board. But I’d be totally guessing on 9-3A Division I and several of the six-team districts that start this week. In fact, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Here’s how I think those leagues will play out, starting with the ones I’m the least sure of and moving to the ones I feel better about predicting. For the record, I’m going with Glen Rose, Whitney, McGregor, Grandview, West, Comanche, Hillsboro as the order of finish in 9-3A Division I, but I don’t have. Source: www.wacotrib.com
