It would have halted what has otherwise been a remarkable resurgence for the 32-year-old Sam Houston State graduate as he keeps pace for a spot in the National Finals Rodeo in December. After having a horse flip on him at the Clovis Rodeo, Jayne suffered a sprained ankle and a nasty scrape on his left shin. "This is not going to be pleasant," Jayne said, sliding onto the training table after his ride. I could see I had plateaued," Jayne said. "I could not make it past that top 24, top 25. That's where I'd end up each year. I figured this would be a good time for me to take a four-month break," he said. "I went to France, went through all the casting and was the last one cut. During the hiatus, Jayne said he re-evaluated the sacrifices he had made to reach the Finals and why his efforts weren't reaping much.
