New InControl Touch Pro infotainment includes door-to-door navigation via the InControl Apps’ smartphone integration system. and Jaguar has ditched hydraulic power steering in favour of a new electrically assisted set-up that it says offers 'greater feel'. And as if in an effort to benefit from a clearer public synergy between Jaguar and Land Rover, the XJ also gains a new top-spec Autobiography trim level. Better feel from electric steering, 4wd-beating traction from RWD. These are certainly bold claims - you've got to admire Jag's chutzpah. The conventional view suggests the sacrifice of hydraulic assistance on the altar of efficiency has been a Very Bad Thing for driving involvement, yet here’s Jaguar saying the XJ’s new electrically assisted system offers improved feedback. Seriously, though, it’s a bold claim – the sense of which will have to wait until we’ve experienced it. But Jaguar is adamant: ‘hydraulic systems have nothing more to give and have reached the limit. Jaguar Land Rover is now moving to Slovak Republic to setup their new plant. They have officially signed a letter of intent with the Government of the Slovak Republic to develop a new manufacturing plant in the city of Nitra in Western Slovakia. JLR has also committed to deliver more lightweight vehicles and will be manufacturing a range of aluminium Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. The first car is expected to come off the production line in 2018. After a thorough analysis of a number of possible locations including Europe, the United States and Mexico, the auto-giant picked Slovakia as its preferred location as it is close... Above all things, Jaguar desires to be different. That’s why the new 2011 XJ flagship has the flamboyant lines of an Italian torpedo and the driving manners of a German autobahn cruiser and is tuned for Buckingham Palace fleet duty. The XJ is a cab-rearward design and is incredibly riveting to stare at as it sits back on its haunches with as much cool as James Bond lighting a Chesterfield. Jaguar Cars managing director Mike O’Driscoll, who’s peddled more than his share of schlock over a 35-year career with the company, is smiling more lately. He says the mission was to recapture the uniqueness of the original 1968 XJ but in a modern form. If you focus on those front three-quarter shots, you’ll wrongly dismiss the 2011 XJ as just an XF with a pituitary run amok. Skip down to the side and rear profiles to capture the XJ’s more exotic stance. Styling head Ian Callum—who gave us all of our current Jaguars and a few Aston Martins—demanded it and got his way.
