Launched in 2014, with negligibly changed 2015 models to be at dealers this fall, the Q50 Hybrid is a challenger not just to the few performance hybrids out there, but to all others in a packed class of talent-laden non-hybrid luxury performance... Some of the Q50 Hybrid’s non-electrified competitors thus include Q50 siblings – as the all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive Q50 line is comprised of four hybrid and six non-hybrid trim levels. Where the Q50 Hybrid stands out is its 28-31 combined mpg from its 3. 5-liter hybrid system versus 22-23 mpg from the non-hybrids’ 3. 7-liter. The visually almost-identical Q50 Hybrids also have more power, are a bit quicker, and despite a $4,400 price premium for the better-equipped Hybrid, their 2,078 sales through August earn a respectable 9-percent share among 23,122 total Q50 sales. Among performance hybrids such as the $4,000-more Lexus GS450h, the doubly-priced Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, hybrids from BMW, Mercedes and Audi, the Q50 Hybrid outsells all. WASHINGTON — Nissan North America is recalling the 2014 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid and Q70 Hybrid sedans to fix a problem that may lead to stalling and to fix faulty transmission parts that could fracture, according to the National Highway Traffic... In the first campaign, Nissan is recalling 5,412 2014 Q50 Hybrid and Q70 Hybrid sedans because a software error may cause the electric motor to stop working while the car is being driven using the electric motor only. Infiniti dealers will reprogram the motor inverter software. In the second campaign, the 2014 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid and Q70 Hybrid sedans may have been assembled with transmissions whose housings were damaged during manufacturing. Infiniti dealers will inspect the transmission assembly and replace it if cracks are found. Owners can contact Infiniti at (800) 662-6200. The 2014 Infiniti Q50S Hybrid had those features, but its drive-by-wire steering and corner braking made handling such a blast in the turns that I spent most of my time hammering it along back roads, ignoring any attempt by the car to make me an... Even with my pedal stomping, hard-braking behavior, I still managed to pull an average of 28. 4 mpg, just over the city EPA number of 28 mpg. A less enthusiastic driver would likely see an average in the low 30s, as the highway fuel economy for the new Q50S Hybrid hits 34 mpg. This sedan represents an important step forward for Infiniti, which had stalled its development at 2008 levels with the G37. The Q50S Hybrid represents an evolution of the old G designated cars , and puts Infiniti where it should be, competing... The rear of the side graphic shows that characteristic Infiniti hook which echoes BMW's Hofmeister Kink. Standard LED headlights take up little space in their slim casings, and the LED running lights form a lash, giving the front of the Q50S Hybrid a face with an expression that looks up to no good.
