Hard melted globs of steel and red plastic from his 1992 Honda Prelude’s bumper and taillights remain embedded on Sister Elsie Drive. Darrell Burns comes to this spot now and then, to trace the asphalt with his fingers. He has asked the same questions for the past three years: How did his son end up here, on a steep, remote road in Tujunga, inside his own burning car. What happened to Jacob Burns between the time he left home in San Gabriel on a Saturday morning and 2 p. m. , the approximate time his car was reported ablaze. Who killed him and why did they set his car on fire in broad daylight. “I want all the answers,” Darrell Burns said one recent day while visiting the site, where homes are set on hills high above Sister Elsie Drive. His family and police are no closer to finding out why he was killed and who did it. What they and police do know is there was nothing in Burn’s past that would have tied him to the kind of people who would kill him in such a manner. The Prelude Si for 1992 has a softer yet more massive presence and is powered by a 160-hp 2. 3-liter version of the Accord engine. The balance and execution of this car made it the surprise vote-getter among a powerful Honda contingent that included both the Civic and the Accord. Is the 2016 Honda HR-V the most Honda-like Honda of all time. Honda seems to think it has a lot of Honda in it, based on their new ad. In the 60-second spot released last week, "Great Thinking Inside," we see a CRX being absorbed by two halves of a fourth-generation Honda Civic. Other appearances include the Accord Wagon (Aerodeck, if you must), del Sol, S2000 and Element, until we finally get to the HR-V – and Honda implies there's some of all of their vehicles in this Fit-based crossover that's just gone on sale. Some of the choices Honda makes for this ad are interesting. Let's hope the Prelude and S2000 heritage comes into play once Honda turns up the performance wick on their slow, little crossover.
