The 2012 Ford F-150 Thunder is GAS’s take at reviving the Ford F-150 SVT Lightning performance truck. The company says it has supercharged the truck’s engine to produce 540 hp, although doesn’t specify which engine served as the base mill -- we suspect it was the 5. 0-liter V-8. On top of that, GAS added 22-inch wheels, air-ride suspension, a... The F-150 also receives a new front fascia, new mirrors, a tonneau cover with a built-in spoiler, and new leather-and-suede bolsters for the front seats. The 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302-X wears a special body that has been widened nine inches compared to stock, and subsequently slathered in matte-orange paint. GAS also saw fit to install a Borla exhaust, Stoptech slotted brakes, an orange six-point roll cage, and an orange-painted racing helmet. Continuing the Mustang theme is the Shelby Super Snake Wide-Body, a wild 1000-hp creation that, like the Boss 302-X, has a body specially widened by nine inches. GAS also fitted new electric exhaust cutouts and new wheels with Pirelli tires. The car rolls on 17-inch “Cobra style” wheels and has a roll cage, bucket seats with five-point harnesses, and the car’s original 1968 AM radio. Source: www.automobilemag.com

When this generation of of Ford's F-150 was introduced for the 2009 model year, it was impressive enough to win Motor Trend's Truck of the Year honors. That was despite its one big downside: an aging lineup of engines, all three of which were V-8s. They included a two-valve, 248-horsepower, 294-pound-foot, 4. 6-liter V-8. another 4. 6-liter V-8 with three valves per cylinder that put out 292... 4-liter V-8 offering 310 horsepower and 365 pound-feet. Making things worse, the two-valve was backed by a four-speed automatic, and fuel economy wasn't good enough. Fast forward two model years, and all three V-8s have been swept aside for two V-6s and two V-8s, all with variable valve timing. Fuel economy has improved across the board, except for the 6. 2. And in what seems a major contradiction, power has increased as well: Even the base V-6 has more horsepower than the three-valve 4. 6-liter, falling only 8 shy of the 5. 4. We wanted...
