Hearing delayed for woman accused of hiding son's body in car - The Virginian-Pilot

A preliminary hearing for the Richmond woman charged with concealing her son's body in the trunk of her car was postponed from Tuesday until later this year. Slaton was arrested June 6 after a state trooper pulled her over for expired state tags on Interstate 64 in Hampton. When the trooper searched the trunk of her black Ford Mustang, he found a decomposing body concealed in two trash bags and wrapped with duct tape, according to court documents. State police said the whereabouts of Slaton's son, Quincy Jamar Davis, cannot be accounted for since 2004. A missing-person report was never filed. Slaton is charged with one felony count of concealing a body. Police have said additional charges are pending. According to a bail determination sheet filed in court, Slaton has prior arrests on charges of domestic assault in 1997 and domestic assault and battery in 2002, although it wasn't clear where those cases were filed. A 44-year-old woman charged with concealing her son's body in the trunk of her car is scheduled for a preliminary hearing this afternoon in Hampton General District Court. State police said the boy's whereabouts cannot be accounted for in the 11 years since he was a middle school student in Virginia Beach. Slaton of Richmond was arrested June 6 after a state trooper pulled her over on Interstate 64 in Hampton for expired state tags. Slaton's black Ford Mustang wasn't registered in Virginia, and the license plates weren't on file with the Department of Motor Vehicles. So the trooper confiscated the tags and searched the car, according to a search warrant affidavit filed in Hampton Circuit Court. The trooper noticed a "strong odor of rotting flesh" permeating from a plastic trash bag in the trunk. The bag was under a spare tire and a pile of clothes, according to court documents. Slaton reached in the trunk and tossed clothing on top of the bag. She said there were more clothes in the bag, according to court documents. But the trooper had found a decomposing body, in two plastic trash bags and wrapped with duct tape, according to a criminal complaint filed in Hampton General District Court. Earl Weidner, of Lake Twp, brings joy to people who see his Dukes of Hazzard ... - Wilkes Barre Times-Leader

He has been since he was a young man working at a used car dealership where he bought his first large-engined car (a 1966 Pontiac Bonneville), but Weidner’s collection of vehicles is far from ordinary. His garage holds several examples of American muscle, but rather than resembling most restored or well-kept classics, Weidner’s cars look like a production set for a “Dukes of Hazzard” film. The crown jewel of their collection is a 1969 Dodge Charger that is painted orange and bears the racing number 01, a replica of the Duke brothers’ General Lee. In addition, they have a 1976 Dodge Coronet painted and accessorized to match Sheriff Rosco Coltrane’s cruiser, a 1976 Ford Mustang GT Fastback that looks exactly like the only car to have allegedly beaten the General Lee in a race. A 1974 Ford Gran Torino that is more famously known as Starsky’s ride in “Starsky and Hutch,” but as Weidner points out, made an appearance in the first episode of Dukes, rounds out the collection. When the Charger was purchased in the winter of 2007, it needed body work, a paint job, new interior and a new engine. After the car was finished, the couple began taking it to car shows, Dukes conventions and even family getaways with their four children: Kasie, 13, Earl, 11, Emily, 9 and Charlie.
