Six people were involved in the crash — two men in the semi truck and four women in the ambulance, and all were wearing seat belts, according to South Dakota Department of Public Safety Spokesman Tony Mangan. The ambulance was traveling eastbound on S. D. Highway 46, while the semi truck was traveling north on S. D. Highway 50 approaching S. D. Highway 46. Consequently, the two collided, sending the ambulance into the north ditch, where it rolled and came to rest on its wheels in the ditch, which was about two feet deep with water. Davison County Veterans Service Officer Jessica Davidson said she first became familiar with the case when she took over the position late in 2014, but Davison County employees had been working on the case since 2010.
