SAN DIEGO — A Marine accused of driving the wrong way on state Route 163 while drunk, causing a head-on crash that killed two UCSD medical students and seriously injured three of their classmates, ignored his friends’ efforts to get him to not... Deputy District Attorney Cally Bright said King was drinking with some Marine buddies at a hotel in Mission Beach Friday night, then left to do more drinking at a Mission Valley bar despite his friends’ efforts to get him to stay at the hotel. A manager at the bar tried to stop King from leaving, but was unsuccessful, Bright said. A friend who was with King then tried to take his keys, but the defendant drove off in his 2000 Ford F350, traveling south in the northbound lanes of state Route 163 just north of Interstate 8, before colliding head-on with the victims’ 2014... Blood samples were taken, but results won’t be known for about a week, Bright said. The driver of the Prius, 23-year-old Madison Cornwell of Mission Viejo, and one of her passengers, 24-year-old La Jolla resident Anne Li Baldock, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. King was involved in a deadly wrong-way collision over the weekend is expected to face two counts murder while intoxicated and five charges of felony DUI causing injury. According to the California Highway Patrol, King was heading south on the northbound side of the I-163 around 1:30 a. m. when he drove his 2000 Ford F350 into a 2014 Toyota Prius, carrying five people. Earlier that night, according to Deputy District Attorney Cally Bright, King was drinking with some Marine buddies at a hotel in Mission Beach Friday night, then left to do more drinking at a Mission Valley bar despite his friends' efforts to get... The manager at a local bar tried to stop him and one of his Marine buddies tried to take away his keys, but both attempts were unsuccessful. Erath man dead in fatal crash on LA 14 near Grosse Isle - KLFY

Shortly before 2:00 pm on Thursday, state troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatality crash on LA Highway 14 at Grosse Isle Road east of Abbeville that left an Erath man dead. The preliminary investigation revealed that Whitney Walker (82) of Erath was operating a 2008 Ford 150 south on Grosse Isle Rd. As Walker approached the intersection of Grosse Isle Road and LA Highway 14, he slowed and came to a stop. For unknown reasons, Walker entered onto LA Highway 14 and was struck on the driver’s side door by a 2015 Ford F350 which was traveling westbound on LA Highway 14. The Ford F350 was being operated by Bryan Domingue (40) of Scott. Walker and his passenger were wearing seat belts, but suffered injuries. Walker suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at Abbeville General Hospital. The passenger, suffered moderate injuries. Bryan Domingue suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Lafayette General Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance. Domingue was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Source: klfy.com
