Surfside Homeowners Association gets new vehicles - Chinook Observer

Surfside’s water department took delivery of two 2015 F-250 Ford service trucks and one 2006 Freightliner FL60 dump truck in 2015. The new vehicles replace older service trucks that have reached the end of their service life. The trucks will be used in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of Surfside Homeowners Association’s water system and lands and buildings infrastructure. Surfside water system provides water to over 1,900 residential/commercial members. The water system produces 85 million gallons of water a year from six deep wells and delivers through over 22 miles of water mains. In addition, much of the water main is failing prematurely requiring an aggressive water main replacement program. Chris Hanson, Surfside treasurer, said “these new service trucks represent a significant improvement in efficiency and cost savings for members. The trucks are heavier than former trucks so they will be able to tow trailers safer and with less wear and tear. William Neal, water system manager, explained that five truck dealers from Washington and Oregon representing Ford, General Motors, and Dodge submitted quotes for the two 3/4 ton service trucks. Korum Ford was the lowest bidder and they delivered the trucks on time with just one minor change order. Source: www.chinookobserver.com

LOUIS (AP) - Ichiro Suzuki singled in the first inning for his 4,192nd career hit in the major leagues and Japan, passing Ty Cobb's total that ranks second in history. The 41-year-old Suzuki got his 2,914th big league hit for the Miami Marlins against the Cardinals on Saturday night. He had 1,278 hits in nine seasons for the Orix Blue Wave in Japan.
