LOUIS • Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia continued making strides toward being a needed addition for the Cardinals with his first win since June 2014 and his first since shoulder surgery. Matt Adams had to leave the Cardinals' 6-4 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a leg muscle strain. The extent of the tear in his leg was not immediately known, and the Cardinals will have to decide possibly before Wednesday's game whether to put Adams on the disabled list or play with a bench already shortened by added arms in the bullpen. Matt Belisle was called upon to pitch the three innings that Garcia (1-0). He had pitched at least three innings as reliever eight times before in his career. Belisle replaced Garcia after the lefty allowed four runs (three earned) through six innings for his second quality start in as many since coming off the disabled list last week. Jhonny Peralta put the Cardinals ahead with a two-run double in the first inning. Cardinals' cleanup hitter Matt Adams tagged a fly ball deep into the right-field that one-hopped to the wall and appeared to be a certain double.
