For 2013, Ford will bestow Platinum status upon its Super Duty crew-cab lineup. Out of concern that the Super Duty King Ranch didn’t offer plush enough surroundings for the discriminating workingman, Ford has stirred in a bevy of convenience, styling, and luxury tweaks, as well as MyFord Touch, which also will be available on... In the appearance column, the Platinum scores its own satin-chrome grille with mesh inserts and an upsized Ford logo, shiny letters spelling out “Platinum” tacked onto the bed sides, a satin-chrome appliqué on the tailgate, and a chrome exhaust tip. The 2013 Platinum will be available in Ruby Red, Kodiak Brown, Tuxedo Black, Ingot Silver, and White Platinum. Another new exterior color, Blue Jean Metallic, will be available for non-Platinum Super Duty models. the instrument panel, door trim, and center stack make do with Ford’s finest faux-grain finish yet. (Other MyFord Touch setups use touch-sensitive “buttons,” which aren’t glove-friendly. ) The system, heretofore unavailable on Super Duty pickups, will be standard on the Platinum as well as 2013 King Ranch and Lariat trucks. Differentiating the Platinum Super Duties from the more proletariat versions are swathes of chrome exterior trim and a unique mesh chrome grille. Inside, buyers are treated to a revised interior with an all-new center stack. With the 2013 Super Duty Platinum, Ford will begin offering MyFord Touch in its F-Series pickup trucks. the system has been revised for special duty for truck users, including redundant hard buttons for things like audio and climate controls that can be used with work gloves on. To better accommodate the MyFord Touch system, so-equipped Super Duty... Expect to see MyFord Touch to hit all versions of the F-150 and Super Duty trucks this fall for the 2013 model year. The F-Series Platinum Super Duty will be available in a choice of Ruby Red, Kodiak Brown, Tuxedo Black, Ingot Silver and White Platinum. Platinum buyers will also be treated to standard features like a backup camera, power telescoping side-view mirrors, and remote start system. The same two engines offered on other F-Series Super Duty models will be offered on the 2013 F-Series Super Duty Platinum. That means buyers get to choose from either a 385-hp, 405-lb-ft 6. 2-liter gas-powered V-8 or a 6. 7-liter Powerstroke turbodiesel that produces 400 hp and a earth-turning 800 lb-ft of torque.
