“No other full-size truck has IIHS small overlap countermeasures, except F-150 SuperCrew. ” When it comes to overalls safety, congratulations Ford as the Ford F-150 earned a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. ) But according to their latest press release on the aluminium bodied truck they dropped earlier today (July 30, 2015) it would behoove you to choose the crew cab model over the extended cab model as results from the small overlap test proved... The only noticeable difference came from the small overlap front test, a stickler in the side of many car companies since the test was introduced. For the passenger dummies in the crew cab, the entire compartment remained intact. When asked what Ford would do about this disparity, a blanket statement from Ford read, “Ford is evaluating possible changes to the extended cab for small offset performance. ” But it should be noted that as our first sentence reads, “No other full-size truck has IIHS small overlap countermeasures, except F-150 SuperCrew.
