In the light-duty-truck world, beer cans are either all the rage or the ammunition for all of your rage, depending on which automaker's logo your Calvin decal is pissing on. The aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 brings huge weight savings for... But in the vernacular of a Chevy or Ram loyalist, beer cans take on a condescending connotation, as in “I’d never drive a truck made out of beer cans. They don’t take the beer-can analogy lightly at Ford. "High-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy" purged as much as 500 pounds from the cab and bed of the new truck. The 2015 Ford F-150 we got to drive over the past several weeks for a long-term test must therefore be a little like Shelton’s old double barrel 12, because however I held it, it responded admirably. But in the Ford, perhaps because it is the newest on the market or perhaps because it simply looks better than all the rest right now, the satisfaction runs deeper. The truck’s design, stamped into aluminum panels riveted and glued together much the same way as an aircraft to reduce weight, coupled with LED lighting, is especially fresh and appealing. The 325-hp V6 is especially quick off the line, able to hit 98/km in 6. 5 seconds thanks to two turbos providing up to 29 psi of peak boost. This little engine will easily light the rear tires and tow with relative ease, as long as the load stays below the 3,447-kilogram maximum.
