  This interior review was written when the 2007 Ford F-150 was new.

  While the F-150's many styles and trim levels mean that impressions of its interior can vary widely, reviews are generally positive. Kelley Blue Book writes, "The F-150's interior is as close to car-like as you'll find in any pickup," with high end models raising "the bar on the plush pickup concept."

   With a seating capacity of anywhere from three to six, depending on body style, the F-150 has a "clean, easy to use, and roomy interior" that will make you "forget you are in a big pickup truck," according to the Boston Globe. Some upscale features, says the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "would not be out of place in a salon or a luxury barge like the Lincoln Town Car. That reflects the real world, where many buyers have pickups as their only vehicles and now demand all the amenities."

  Seating

  Regular cab models seat up to three on a bench seat, while SuperCab models seat up to five and SuperCrew models seat up to six (with three on a rear bench). USA TODAY points out that, while the "regular cab and Super Cab models are 6 inches longer inside," the "back seat in the Super Cab remains kid-size," and "you need the Super Crew's full-size back seat and four big doors for adults." Automotive.com claims that "seat comfort has been enhanced for 2007." In high-end models, reports Four Wheeler, the "leather seats are also very comfortable."

  The front seat can be equipped with two captain's chairs or with a bench seat. The bench, says the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is "basically flat with only a slight contour to the edges," and concludes, "It was OK." Consumer Guide agrees that the seats are flat, but likes the "ample head and leg room" and "integrated seatbelts." The bench seat features a 40/20/40 split.

  While the back seat of the SuperCab is found to be good for kids and short trips, the SuperCrew's backseat is much more accommodating. Automotive.com explains, "The big difference in the back seats between SuperCrew and SuperCab models is rear legroom: 39.0 inches for SuperCrew, 32.7 inches for SuperCab." Consumer Guide says the seats in both are "nicely padded" with "angled backrests" that "add to comfort" -- and it notes that while the SuperCab is "OK for occasional adult use," the SuperCrew is "much more accommodating." PickupTruck.com says that the SuperCrew has "enough leg room that we're comfortable even on a 65-mile stint in the back seat." The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports, "Two tall friends, one over 6 feet, climbed in back and had no complaints, saying they had plenty of room."

  Interior Features

  In general, most reviewers have good things to say about the cabin's setup. U.S. News reviewer Rick Newman says, "Radio and climate controls are clean and uncluttered" and the "circular air vents have a sleek and modern look -- almost European, dare I say." Automotive.com agrees that the controls are "easy to operate," adding that they are "plain and straightforward." Consumer Guide says the gauges are "handsome" and "well-placed, but a bit small for some testers." As for negatives, MSN asserts that the "old-style foot-operated parking brake is definitely out of place, and the plastic glove compartment door needs a more solid feel in keeping with the improved interiors." With many different trims, individual options and options packages, the F-150 can be outfitted with options and materials with a degree of specificity that few vehicles offer. For 2007, new options include satellite radio and a DVD-based navigation system with an in-dash screen.

  Cargo

  Inside, says the Detroit Free Press, "Storage space is plentiful -- particularly with the optional center console, which has four cupholders and a cavernous goody bin for CDs and the like." MSN writes, "Cupholders were able to hold large beverage containers," and "there were storage pockets with bottle holders in the front doors and storage pockets in rear doors." "Even the regular cab model," reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "has storage space behind the seats and narrow, rear-hinged doors on both sides for access to that space." In the SuperCab, the rear cushions flip up to provide cargo space, "but leave seat-frame corners jutting into" the cargo area, according to Consumer Guide.

Four-wheel vented disc anti-lock brakes are standard on all F-150 models.The F-150 comes with a modular overhead rail system, which can accommodate for first-aid kits, toolboxes, or storage units.The interior was significantly upgraded at the F-150's last redesign, in 2004, and now compares to the interior appointments offered in full-size luxury SUVs when generously equipped. On FX4 and Lariat models there's a different, more SUV-like interior scheme available, with twin captains chairs and a floor-mounted shifter.At the top of the line, there's the lavish King Ranch model, with a designer saddle leather interior and just about every luxury convenience. There's also a limited-edition Harley Davidson SuperCrew style, which comes with leather captain's chairs, spoked wheels, and an instrument panel modeled after motorcycle gauges. It's the only F-150 in the lineup that can come with full-time all-wheel drive.The list of options is long, allowing the F-150 to be catered to just about any use. Highlights include shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive, skid plates, a limited-slip rear axle, a huge, range-extending 35.7-gallon fuel tank, power-adjustable pedals, power fold-in heated side mirrors, a power sliding rear window, a backup sensor system, and a high-end audio system with six-disc changer.
