His wife, Shasta Montoya, said the two have been together for nearly two decades, and their wedding anniversary was a little more than three weeks away. “He loved his family,” an emotional Shasta Montoya said talking on the phone with the Star-Banner on Wednesday. Tuesday night, the Summerfield man was killed in a single-vehicle crash when the truck he was driving ran off Interstate 75 and into a ditch, ejecting him. Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the 40-year-old man was driving a silver 2004 Nissan Titan pickup south on I-75 in the right-hand lane when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the road and onto the grassy shoulder. Authorities said the truck rolled over at least once in the ditch and ejected Montoya. Aside from his wife, Montoya left behind three daughters, ages 19, 16 and 14. Through tears, his eldest daughter, Sara J. Morse, said her father was “fun to be around” and she enjoyed “hanging around him. She said they've been married for 18 years and July 25 would've been their wedding anniversary. “He was a hard-working, wonderful man who loved his family,” she said, adding that she has two daughters with her husband, 16-year-old Nicolasa Montoya, and Rosa Montoya, 14.
