Declining sales : Last month, Ford sold 55,171 F-150s, which was 8. 9 percent fewer than in June 2014. At the halfway point of 2015, Ford had sold just above 357,000 of them, a more modest year-over-year decline of 2. 4 percent. Deep discounts: As Detroit News notes, F-150 customers can now receive up to $10,000 in discounts on 2015 models, $7050 of which comes from Ford directly. Is Ford getting desperate. Moving the F-150 from a steel body to one made of aluminum has caused a few hiccups on the assembly line, which has made it hard for Ford to keep up with demand for its best-seller. While many Ford loyalists have patiently waited out the delays, some fence-straddlers have opted to purchase other models from other automakers. Ford expects production to hit normal levels in the fall. It's as if they've been handled hundreds of times. Thousands, maybe. But Juan "John" Piña handles them expertly — delicately, even. Christy Sue Piña was barely 14 years old when she was found nude and dead in a Castroville artichoke field. Monterey County sheriff's deputies reportedly found a chloroform-soaked rag next to her ravaged body. Piña says he knows his daughter's killer. Local prosecutors say they do too. And now that he's in custody, law enforcement is one step closer to wrapping up the case. Christy was one of 32 homicide victims in 1990 in Monterey County. After 25 years, her case is so cold, Piña calls it "a freezer case. His daughter was "an outstanding student," Piña says. In 1990, she was attending eighth grade at Greenfield Union School. Teachers found Chris — her school nickname — to be "exceptionally creative and talented. " Christy was enrolled in GATE, an accelerated learning program. After her death, seven teachers involved in the seventh- and eighth-grade programs recalled Christy in a letter. 2015 Ford F-150: First Crash-Test Ratings For Aluminum-Bodied Truck - The Car Connection

But the safety of this aluminum-bodied F-150 has been an open question—until now, with the release of full crash-test ratings from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA). In tests conducted in February but finalized and posted this week, the 2015 F-150 has achieved top five-star ratings in the Frontal Crash and Side Crash categories of the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). It’s earned five stars in all the subcategories of those, including the Side Pole test, which simulates a 20-mph crash hitting a narrow object like a tree or utility pole. Safety ratings also haven’t yet been released by the other U. S. group that conducts crash-testing, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Last year’s model achieved top ‘good’ results from the IIHS in all categories for which it was tested—although it lacked results in the small overlap frontal test, which is often a differentiator among new vehicles that otherwise perform well in...
