--> I still remember a certain evening bow hunt many years ago at a hunting property in Copiah County that I owned at the time. Once shooting light had waned, I gathered my hunting kit and climbed down in preparation for a short, but strenuous uphill pull along a sinuous woods lane back to the camp house. For no particular reason, as I recall, in spite of it being almost dark, I chose to hike back without the aid of a flash light, just using what ambient star light filtered down through the tree tops. Slinging my bow over my shoulder, I began the hike back, looking up frequently at the starlit gap in the tree canopy that roughly marked the track of the woods lane. Now, being 6 feet tall with around a 3- foot stride, that placed this sudden, strange noise only one additional stride or just 3 feet from my toes as I screeched to a halt. Jumping back and grabbing my mini-mag flashlight out of my pocket, I flicked the switch on — revealing a large, angry, coiled and rattle-buzzing rattlesnake situated right in the center of the woods lane. I came away with a definite lesson learned, and I did not afterward roam around woods and fields in. Source: www.louisianasportsman.com

Hummer: Dead five years - LeftLane News

The last Hummer ever built, an H3 model, rolled off the line at GM's Shreveport, Louisiana, factory on May 24, 2010. Not a glamorous end, the last batch of 849 H3s were built to fulfill an order for the Avis rent-a-car company. Looking to build upon that go-anywhere reputation, GM bought the rights to the Hummer brand in 1998. Although GM continued to market the Humvee, albeit under the H1 banner, the company's attention turned to creating SUVs for the civilian market. GM announced in 2009 that it would sell the Hummer brand as part of its bankruptcy reorganization. GM initially struck a deal with China's Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company for $150 million, but the deal ultimately fell through after several delays. In February 2010, GM announced that it was closing Hummer for good. Hummers are getting harder to find a half-decade later, but luckily a recent report has revealed just were all the Hummers have gone. Source: www.leftlanenews.com

Toyota fixes Tacoma's most annoying issue for 2016 - Torque News

When Mike Swears, Tacoma chief engineer was asked about the new V6 Tacoma, and how different it was from the prior generation he said that it was an all-new truck except for “maybe a seatbelt bracket. ” That means the new Tacoma has a new tailgate handle, and the old, non-locking one is no more. Yes, as crazy as it sounds, we checked with Toyota and no prior Tacoma came with a factory locking tailgate. Since pickup tailgates are removable without tools, this put the Tacoma’s tailgate at risk of theft. Toyota confirmed to Torque News today by e-mail that “The new 2016 Tacoma will have locking tailgates as standard equipment on all models. Source: www.torquenews.com
